It would appear that the Cowboys could be facing a few significant "must haves" in next year's draft. Once we sign Ware to an extended contract that should eat up quite a bit of space off next year's cap. Assuming we sign Ware, it would appear that Spears will not be resigned as a cap casualty. He should draw a contract similar to Canty's which could be a luxury we cannot afford. That makes signing a 3/4 DE a must for next year.

Flozell probably has a year or two left to play, barring injury, but seldom do you draft an OT late in the first round that is ready to play as a rookie. I think the OT we drafted this year is more of a guard, so we have to be thinking OT early next year. I think it must be a 1st or 2nd round pick, unless they plan on moving Davis to OT.

These two needs could tie our hands next year with the first two picks. You hate to see that because they lend themselves to reaches.

I'm no capolgist, but I know we have somewhere around $22 million in dead money this season (which will be gone next year), and coupled with Ellis (and his cap hit) leaving soon (this year or next), I would think we would have plenty of $$$$ for anything we desired.

This presumes, of course, that there is still a salary cap.

I humbly defer to Adam on the particulars.

If there is no cap next year.....why would we lose spears? Too expensive?

I think we are fine cap wise.....sure we have a big chunk this year of dead money but next year that will be gone.......I think.

NT- Sorry not drinking the Savaii cool aid. Even though Ratliff made the pro bowl there I'd rather have him at RE. Pass rush would be outrageous with him and D Ware on the weak side.

LT- False start was prolly one of the worst contracts Jerry gave last year. Romo needs eyes in the back of his head with left side of the line. I'll believe Free is the answer when I see him do something in a regular season game.

Everyone should have known that Dallas wasn't going to be able to fill all their wants in this draft. Other teams pick, too.

yes, i think thats what jerry jones and the cowboys are counting on, the dead money of 22 million gone, greg ellis gone, and maybe flozell contract gone by next year too; that would leave plenty of money even with signing ware;

i agree on NT and LT, also a speed wr, a dynamic punt returner; a fullback bruiser, proabably a back up center better than proctor

I am in agreement, but with a dozen picks, they could have at least picked ONE dlineman. :D
