  • Why can't we find a kick-returner that receives the kick and returns it full speed?
  • Why do we keep treating Zeke like he's Marshall Faulk in his prime, lining him up wide on critical passing downs?
  • Why would you squib kick at that moment in the game?
  • Does McCarthy not have an oversight coordinator, or some guy that reviews close plays and tells him to review it or not? This is now the third game in which we allowed a horrible (and reversible) call on the field to remain. In Week 2, we gave up an extra 8 yards on a Julio Jones catch after he was clearly touched down. This past game, Zeke clearly scored a TD but the play was inexplicably not called a TD (unless I've missed the explanation for this somewhere). Against the Seahawks, Zeke nearly scored a TD but his knee touched the ground while the ball was around the half-yard line, but they ended spotting the ball at the 3- or 4-yard line. Why is no one in McCarthy's ear?
  • Why do we still try to run sweeps with Zeke, or anything outside of the tackles for that matter?
The League's "Best" RB...
  • In 1,239 career carries, Zeke has just four (4) runs of 40+ yards, and three (3) of those came in 2016.
  • Zeke has now fumbled 12 times in his past 35 games
  • Zeke has morphed into a glorified power back, which has utility but he's not the dynamic runner some of y'all still want to believe he is. You can appeal to his all-around game which is fair, but don't act like he's dynamic runner that can flip the field on any carry.

Cant really answer most of those, but Im supposing you dont think it's cool having your kickoff returner waving his hands while the ball is bouncing at the 5 yard line?

Agree on all points.

McCarthy not off to the best start just coaching wise. In game bonehead decisions, the lack of challenges you mentioned, undisciplined team. No discernable improvement in a month.

On Zeke, I saw a glimmer of hope in week one and some in week 2...the last two weeks have me back firmly in the camp that he is done as a top RB.

Just doesn't work hard enough and just does not make people miss enough to last. His speed loss is obvious, just look at his rookie year highlights vs last year. I said to my son, I believe it was on a screen pass last game...he got tackled after a few yard gain. Rookie year it is at least a 50 yard run.

ANOTHER bad investment!

I got this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why does Zeke keep slipping?
it's like he is running on ice.
maybe he should NOT tape his shoes...where are those long runs we used to see.
almost every run...he ends up off balance...running on the sides of his feet...slippin n slidin like its a skating rink.

Why, after watching the last 3 games, are most of your questions about Zeke and none are about the defense?

Unanswerable question?

Nah, you agenda guys just can't help yourselves. If it's not Dak living in your head rent free it's Zeke. :muttley:

I don't know. Every a aspect of the team is abysmal, including coaching so far. Guys I'm impressed with: WRs, all 5.. Schultz, and thats about it. Dak is playing as expected, solid. Zeke should help out the RT in every pass play. I'm fed up with our long-developing pass plays without chipping the left defensive end. Zeke and Pollard are underperforming. How can we practice to prevent fumbling? We better see an exaggerated attempt at 2 hands on the ball this week. I don't care if we win ugly against the Giants, we need a W so bad.

So with that last part, you are saying it was a wise move to sign him to that huge extension?

One guy that’s really impressed me is Noah Brown. He’s made some really difficult catches this season. I’m still waiting for him to show up on special teams which is supposed to be his calling card but he’s justified his spot for sure.

It's priceless reading posts about how Zeke is terrible when the o-line can't open a hole and we fall so far behind every game that it becomes all pass.

Zeke would be doing just fine if we weren't giving up a forty burger every single game. Some people just don't get it.

Power runner. Good blocker. Can catch too, but doing very little with it, and that's been true for years. Since 2108 <= 6 YPT. Sad.

Nowhere near the player he was in 2016.

Year YPC YPT
2016 5.1 9.3
2017 4.1 7.1
2018 4.7 6.0
2019 4.5 5.9
2020 3.9 5.3

The collapse in YPT is a real tell. Give him the ball in the open field, and he's just not doing anything with it. Been true for years now.

We signed him in 19. Do those numbers since look even *nearly* like an elite back?

It's priceless watching the Zeke fans spin their wheels trying to still justify him as an elite back, worthy of that contract.
Do any of the capologists on this site know his contract and when we can send him packing? I see a Rams/Gurley situation unfolding with Zeke.

Nice straw man.

Who said Zeke was “terrible”? I’ll wait.

I think after the 2022 season there appears to be an out with a not gigantic dead money charge.

According to sportrac the earliest potential out comes in 2023, when cutting him would only count ~$6.7M. In 2024, cutting would only count $2.6M and he’d be 29-years old.

I think Zeke gets better as the game goes on and he gets the defense tired. The way we been playing from behind were we've only had the lead for a total of 14 minutes thru 4 games makes it hard for him to establish the game plan as well as the run.
