Sheriff: Ohio man cleaning gun killed Amish girl

FREDERICKSBURG, Ohio — A man cleaning his muzzle-loading rifle shot the gun into the air, accidentally killing a 15-year-old Amish girl driving a horse-drawn buggy more than a mile away, a sheriff said Tuesday.

Rachel Yoder was shot in the head Thursday night while traveling to her home in Wayne County, between Columbus and Akron. She had attended a Christmas party for employees, most of them under 18 years old, at an Amish produce farm and was riding home alone when she was shot, Wayne County sheriff's Capt. Douglas Hunter said.

On a similarly unbelievable story, a friend of a friend dropped his rifle after he had loaded it in his living room. He caught it from hitting the floor, but in doing so his foot hit the safety and he caught it with a finger inside the trigger guard. The rifle discharged, shot through the front door, across three lanes of traffic, through the back window of a truck driving by and killed the woman in the passenger's seat. Happened in Rockport, Texas back in the late 80's or early 90's.

At Texas State, I was introduced to a friend of a friend from north of Austin. Really cute girl named Leanne. We got to be pretty good friends. It was her mother that was killed by that one in a billion shot.

He had to of shot after cleaning. With a muzzle loader u basically build the bullet in th barrel. Couldn't clean it with powder a patch and a ball/bullet in it.

The killing is getting called an accident though, if he shot it AFTER he was done cleaning, he would get charged.
