This is going to be interesting. It appears as if the three major sports effected were Men's Basketball, Men's Football and Women's Basketball. Interestingly enough, Men's Basketball seems to be the least effected by this report. Men's Football, in large part, has already been punished in 2012. Will be interesting to see if more punishments come down and the severity of those. Women's Basketball is in real trouble IMO. Even more interesting is the fact that this was not isolated to Athletes. Over half of the impropieties occurred with regular students, not involved in UNC Athletics. This brings into question, the actual curriculum and what the NCAA's powers are to bring judgement on said curriculum. I honestly have no idea how this is going to play out.

It's a shame, because that school is one of the absolute very best historically regarding academics in and out of the athletic community.

They had a long time Assistant Prof that had gone rouge.

She went on for years letting many of those that took the African American studies classes to breeze by. It got worse over the years because she had this twisted idea of Social Justice.

The problem was, that after so many years, you know the word had to be out that she was setting many of these athletes with "Tudors" in her classes.

In a sick sort of way, I'm almost glad Dean Smith had Alzheimer's in his final years. He retired nearly 20 years ago, but I can't begin to imagine how heartbroken he'd be with this garbage.

I'm sure Butch Davis knew something was amiss, as he's always been weak in that area.
But I'm curious about Roy Williams.

The irony here is that you hear (from insiders) all the time of this going on at nearly all schools.

Oh well

This seems to be a question of people involved in certain study programs writing papers for Students. I don't honestly know how any coach could know of that, unless the student actually told them of it. That is not to say that Williams and the other Coaches are not responsible. The buck stops with the Head Coach and that's how it is but it's entirely possible that the Coaches did not know exactly what was going on. They will still shoulder the responsibility and rightly so but I think it's hard to say that they were part of the problem, based on the info we currently have.

The Wainstein report basically said that two years after Williams was hired as the UNC Head Basketball Coach, he ended the participation in the program with his players.

Yeah, I would tend to think that if Williams found out what was going on, he'd end it,
