We are constantly reminded that every year is a blank slate. There is always turnover in the playoffs. However, every year about this time I get pumped up because I look back and see how close we came and then see what new toys we have added. I think, "gee, we are unstoppable!" What I always forget is that the turnover happens because great players become goats. No one ever sees it before it happens. But, sure as heck next year we will argue about how we need to trade or draft to replace our former hero. Some examples, I remember a callin show with Spagnola asking who was the best player on the team, 70% of the callers said Roy Williams (safety). This was the preseason before he got exposed. Roy Williams (receiver) was hyped to the rafters but he doesn't really qualify as hero/goat because we never saw him do great things before implosion. Marc Columbo was everyones favorite lineman before last season. Marion Barber also qualifies the past couple of years.

So, my game is this. Keep me realistic about the season by predicting what current hero will go goat. Its kinda like a dead pool but with sudden suckage instead of the grim reaper as a predictor.

You can't pick non-current Heroes. Injuries putting a player on IR doesn't count when I tally up at the end of the season. Use only your psychic powers to predict. The less believable now and most accurate later scores highest. For bonus points and to cheer me up after your doom and gloom predictions pick a current goat to become hero.

Obvious Heros to Possible goat candidates

1. Romo
2. Witten
3. Austin
4. Ware
5. Ratliff
6. McBriar
7. DeCamillis
Not so obvious candidates (half points)
Buehler (there are questions now since he has a new role.)
Free
Dez

Goat to Hero Candidates
1. Roy Williams
2. Columbo
3. Barber
4. Jason Garrett
5. McQ
6. Leonard Davis
7. Sam Hurd
8. Jason Williams

My predictions:
Ware (goat) Roy (hero). No reason except that they are very non-obvious candidates.

in my head when i here goat, i think of greatest of all time. so im goin wit ware.

In San Antonio, when we hear goat I think cabrito on the grill so I'm going with goat fajitas with roasted tomato salsa.

Jenkins: Hero to Goat. Hard to live up to what he did last year. Teams will be ready to test him.

Bennett: Goat to Hero. This guy has so much natural talent. If he can tap into any of it, he can be a huge factor in the 2 TE set.

Very believable

Here is my scientific wild *** guess:

Goat: Felix Jones

Unsung Hero: (I'm assuming this is a current non starter) Gronkowski (provided he makes the team), if not McCann.

Barber as the resurgent hero. ... hurt last year, highly motivated and proud player, he's going to get plenty of touches and so he'll have plenty of opportunities to reassert himself. I think he will.

The Goat? Miles Austin is a candidate. He played at a very high level, but for less than a full season. Before his outstanding stretch of play last year, he seemed to have a hard time staying healthy.
