I'm trying to find confirmation of this, but someone in my office just told me that he read online that the Commanders were consummating a trade that would land them John Abraham from the Jets in return for Patrick Ramsey, a #2 this year and a #1 next year.

I can't find any confirmation of this myself, but if I find it I'll post it.

Also, if this has already broken here and someone else posted it, please disregard and merge.

I couldn't have made it clearer from the very title that this was simply an UNCONFIRMED RUMOR.

If you don't want to read rumors, then don't click on the thread... it's pretty simple. It's not like I'm trying to hoodwink everyone.

If true, however, I think it's a matter of interest for a lot of people here, and getting rumors and information early is why people come to sites like this. Otherwise they'd just wait to read it in the papers the next day.

1) Abraham is 28... DOB, 5/6/78...

2) Abraham defines the phrase "injury-prone"... he has missed 23 of 96 games thus far in his NFL career...

3) I used to like Abraham, and hoped the Boys might make a run for him at some time... that all ended when he quit on the Jets in the playoffs two years ago...

4) If you guys keep on trading away all your draft picks, you ARE mortgaging your future... this trade would mean the Skins wouldn't have a pick in the first four rounds this year, and would already have shipped away their first and fourth NEXT year too...

5) I really don't think there's any substance to this rumor, so points 1-4 are really moot...

I could see the Skins trading a 7th to the Colts for Peyton Manning too... but I couldn't see the Colts being so freakin' stupid, any more than the Jets would be stupid enough to trade a perennial Pro Bowl DE for a QB who has pretty much been a bust, and a conditional pick in the 07 draft...

Maybe the Skins thought the draft was cancelled. There was talk of that during the CBA talks.

Now if this does happen, they have to sign him too ? Correct ?

What do you think he wants ? He's a great player, better than any they have picked up yet (And all of whom got huge SB's). Say 15 Million SB and 7 years 60 million ?
