Not sure what qualifies as under the radar, but......
Jared Veldheer OT Hillsdale- "Named First-Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association following the 2009 season … Participated in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game on Feb. 6, 2010 … Will participate in the NFL Combine, scheduled for Feb. 19-23 in Indianapolis, Ind … .Also named First-Team All-Region by the AFCA and was an All-region selection as part of the Gene Upshaw Award program … Rated as the No. 4-ranked pro prospect by D2football.com … Named a 2009 Division II Preseason All-American by The Sporting News … Figures to be heavily scouted by the NFL throughout the season … Ran the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds … Has a 29.6-inch vertical leap … Had a max bench press number of 415 lbs … Has a hang clean mark of 425 … Bench-pressed 225 lbs. 32 times … Has a Steeler time of 4.52 seconds … Voted team captain after the completion of spring practice."- Should be available at our 2nd round pick and sounds like a great project to groom into our franchise LT.
CJ Wilson- DE/DT East Carolina- "Wilson's strength and technique at the point of attack helped him emerge as one of the nation's most productive defensive ends. He was named Conference USA's Defensive MVP as a senior, racking up 57 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He returned a blocked extra point against Southern Miss to help the team get back to the Conference USA championship game, where it beat Houston. Hardly a one-year wonder, Wilson came on to start seven games as a true freshman (he put off enrolling until the 2006 spring semester to meet academic requirements) with four sacks. As a sophomore he forced his way into the starting lineup after a few games, earning second-team All-Conference USA with seven sacks. Wilson had 70 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in 2008 to earn first-team all-conference accolades.
Clifford James Wilson has the look of a top-100 pick, although depth at the position will force him down some team's draft boards. Though not particularly flashy in terms of beating tackles off the edge, his strength and workmanlike effort as a pass rusher earn respect among scouts"- 6'3 290, ran a 4.83 and put up 32 reps of 225. Mid round prospect(3/4) that sounds like the prototypical 3-4 DE.. Possible replacement for Spears next year.
Jeromy Miles FS UMass- "This two-time FCS All-American began his career at the Naval Academy, but transferred to UMass after a Freshman All-American season in which he started 11 games and made 61 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Miles' decision to leave the military behind proved fruitful for the Minutemen as he started every one of the team's 36 games over the next three years.
Miles was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association third-team in his first year at UMass, making 67 tackles, intercepting two passes, breaking up nine others and forcing four fumbles. As a junior, he gained All-American notice by ringing up 104 tackles, five for loss and three interceptions. And though his numbers were down a bit in 2009 (64 tackles, 0.5 for loss, two interceptions), he played more Cover-2 and teams were wary about throwing in his direction. The Walter Camp Foundation recognized him as an FCS All-American after the season.
Despite all that production, Miles' campus workout (4.45-second 40, 6.81 three cone) may have put him over the top for teams looking at late-round safeties. His quickness and ball skills, along with aggressive tackling that will be used on defense and special teams early on, should elevate him into being drafted"- Should be available in the 4/5th round. Sounds just as productive and skilled as the 2nd round FS's that people are talking about reaching for with the 27th.
