"We're going to grab this thing!" (before the game confidence)

"Too many bad things could happen." (post game explanation for not calling timeout with 26 seconds left...settling for 49 yard kick)

These two attitudes do not jive...no trust in Romo not to screw it up...poor leadership by a young, inexperienced coach. I hope JG learned something.

I hope he did too, but at what cost? Possibly the season, depending on how the team performs the rest of the way. A loss like this could be very damaging to their psyche and to the players' trust in Garrett. If he doesn't trust them to run a single play in order to try a more makable field goal, why would they trust him to make good decisions? It's certainly something to think about.

I think Jason will have several opportunites over the coming weeks to show he is progressing or not. It was bad day for Jason. That being said I hope he saves his best coaching days for the Giants in what will determine if Dallas goes to playoff. This is far from being over. I do know Dallas will have to put aside their fragile egos to get past the Giants.

After yesterday it's just a coach trying to defend the indefensible.

After Romo's meltdowns earlier this year Garrett obviously got it into his head that he had to make decisions to keep Romo out of those situations. Many people here were saying the same thing after our losses to the Jets and Lions. I don't agree with it and it likely cost us the NE game.

Not likely.

I'll be impressed when he brings in an OC to do what needs to be done. He would still be the big chief, but for crying out loud. If HE can't recognize the need, the JJ should sit him down and explain the situation.

Fact is Garrett can be either a solid OC, or he can be a solid HC- it is obvious to me at least, that he CANNOT be both.

Another more likely possibility is that numbnuts Garrett was never a good OC and will never make a good HC.

That's the exact problem. He's trying to use stuff from the DET way in the same way in other games. All 3 of them have been ENTIRELY DIFFERENT situations.

God stuff like this just makes me so mad. How can he possibly take stuff he learned from the DET game and apply it to yesterday. I agree with you that's what happened, he got gunshy b/c of that debacle. But quite frankly, Romo is the only reason this team has won anything in the last month. He deserved a shot to win it at the end.

Everything with JG is so black and white. It's either go balls out with a 3 TD lead or go conservative in a tie game...he has no grasp of the middle ground. For a guy who is supposedly so smart, this is an extremely simple-minded, dumb, stupid, moronic way to coach a football team.
