Underrated CB Davon House runs 4.32 at Pro Day

Prior to the Combine, there was plenty of buzz in the scouting community that New Mexico State cornerback Davon House was going to run very well in Indianapolis.

Though he did run well (4.44-4.50) there, the 6-0, 200 pound House had been expected to be among the fastest cornerbacks tested in Indianapolis and elected to run again Friday at his Pro Day, recording times in the 4.32-4.35 second range, according to a source at the scene.

House elected not to do any of the other measureable drills Friday. He was run through a positional workout by Chicago Bears' assistant defensive backs/safeties coach Gill Byrd and "did good, caught everything," according to the source.

Catching everything isn't a surprise for House. What he might lack in national name recognition, he made up for with a stellar career.

House, a four year starter for the Aggies, was a two-time First-Team All-WAC pick who leaves with 198 career tackles, along with 46 passes broken up and 11 interceptions -- three of which he returned for touchdowns.

There were approximately 15 teams on hand for the workout, according to the source, including representatives from the Chicago Bears (scout, as well as Byrd), Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills and New York Giants.

House is NFLDraftScout.com's No. 7 rated cornerback for the 2011 NFL Draft and is expected to be selected in the 2nd round.

I absolutly love this kid. i was hoping to get him late second if we do a trade back or round 3 . I know that pro day's 40's are usally not very accurate but his 4.44 at the combine is plenty fast for his size.

yep talent is rich at DL, CBs, and Wr if you know what your looking for at wr

Yeah, I wouldn't draft a S in the first three rounds of this draft. There are going to be much better players available at other positions. CB is really deep and has quality. You can get a quality one in rounds 2, 3, and maybe even at the top of round 4.

If I was Dallas, I would take advantage of the CB and WR depth in this draft and add depth at those spots. I would look at WR in round 4, and Dallas should be able to add quality depth at CB, without taking one in round 1. There are a so many quality CBs in this draft.

It's not hard to pick the top tier guys out. You make your money on picking out the best guys in the other tiers and taking advantage of that value.

Terence Newman is going to buy that player some time to develop if the Cowboys play their cards right.

Scandrick's contract should be up after 2011.

Curtis Marsh is a guy to look at.

I like Chimdi Chekwa, but he has a wrist injury. Those are risky. He is a third round guy now but will need to be cleared medically. He was impressive in the Sugar Bowl and made a great play on a deep ball, when he was hurt.

Will Brandon Harris fall to 40?

He measured short. 5-9

I'd rather take Harris in round 2, than Amukamara in round 1, especially when those top tiered OTs are going to go pretty fast and be long gone.

Aaron Williams
Johny Patrick
Curtis Brown
Davon House
Brandon Burton

You are looking at probably more than one of those guys being on the board in round 2. It it such a good value. It's tough to pass up if you like one of those guys, even if you are set at CB.

I need to go back and check some of the 40 times on the 4-5 round guys that I have listed.

Most starting CBs come out of the first 2 rounds, and that is ideally where you want to draft these guys to start.


Plus, that guy from Chattanooga blazed and looked good in drills. He was nervous on his 40 time for sure and probably could have run faster. He stumbled on one of his 40s and still ran a 4.3.
