I vaguely remember this. His father even tried to warn the U.S. officials. As usual, they turned a blind eye.

Can a mod put "Bomber" in the title please. I forgot it, mean to say "Underwear Bomber".

Makes no sense. Just kill him and be done with it...

They should strap a bomb to his underwear and make him run into the wilderness, telling him after the fact that if he stops running it will explode but had he just walked from the beginning it wouldn't have blown up at all.

Two votes for this.....

Make it three! You and me and every other taxpayer are footing this guy's bill for the rest of his life. Three hots and a cot, an unlimited law library, and a bunch of other stuff to make his life comfortable. Not political, just fact! A bullet's a lot cheaper.

Life in prison is miserable. Capital punishment is the easy way out.

Worse. We're footing the bill for celebrity status and a new indoctrination teacher in prison.
A friend of mine does prison ministry, and he came across the Fort Dix would-be attacker. He's a 'martyr' of sorts and came close to causing a riot. He was moved, but I'm sure where ever he ended up, there were enough there to accept him in and repeat the process.

I agree. Even under the rules of war this man’s execution is warranted.

If that were the case you would not see appeal after appeal after appeal.

Oh I agree and I believe he does too. He was fighting life in prison I think because he preferred the death penalty.

The problem is, we foot the bill which will be in the millions before he finally dies.

I don't give a damn about him except the fact that he will never walk this Earth as a free man again. So the question becomes. Do I want to pay millions of dollars so he can live, or just kill him and be done with it.

I say kill him. If you want him to suffer, then make it a slow painful death. Either way, just kill him.

That is people who fear death. If they didn't fear death they would probably prefer it to life in prison. Especially if it's a state prison.

It shouldn't be looked at as a punitive matter. Punishment should be reserved for people who might benefit from it and be deterred from future acts. In the case of murderers and the like, it should be a matter of making the best judgement possible, which is realizing they're not going to be rehabilitated and wasting no resources on them at all.

True, he was willing to die when he put the bomb on himself. As far as I'm concerned he should be executed. However the notion that all people in prision would rather die than have life is not really the case. For some prison is a way of life for them they are more comfortable on the inside than out of prison. I know that concept seems strange but it is true

Just kill the Fruit of Kaboom bomber and be done with it. I don't want to have to pay for him to eat and watch TV and do whatever. Just save me some money.

If you believe in utilitarianism, which I think you do.

Otherwise some believe in retribution. But he was caught before he performed the act that would warrant retributive punishment.

You'd be suprised how the human being can adapt. He'd be used to it in 2-3years. Capital punishment is easy as well.

He needs to suffer. Suffer like the families of lost loved ones.

You'd be surprised at how fast they adapt to being dead. Not one complaint so far from the dead ones.
