Steele, Bell, Hendershot, Thomas, Bass, Luepke, and Aubrey were all undrafted. Did I miss anybody. That's 7 undrafted players on the roster. I would think that no other team would be close to that. We well could have another one in Stephens next year. I suspect that one reason they are able to get guys like this is that they can offer them more money than other teams that have over spent. Whatever it is it gives the team an advantage.

They don’t use unrestricted free agency a lot (compared to most NFL teams) and Stephen is obsessed with cheap labor. That formula equals opportunity for late round draft picks and UDFA to make the team.

Not only do they make the team, they are good players.

WR/KR KaVontae Turpin
QB Cooper Rush
RB Rico Dowdle
TE John Stephens ~ is on season ending IR
WR David Durden ~ is on season ending IR

That's 12 players, though Durden is a fringe prospect who will likely get churned next Summer.

Of the group you listed, I would only qualify Steele as “good”.

The rest are extremely unproven at this point.
Was going to say similar.

Other than Steele, the rest are indistinguishable from down-roster players around the rest of the league.

"Good" is incredibly subjective, if not completely wishful thinking on your part.

I hope they end up "good" players. Pretending they are now is rainbows and dreams.
Not wishful at all. If they weren't good, they wouldn't be on a NFL roster. There are less than 2000 human beings that can play in this league. It's a pretty exclusive club. Cowboys have one of the better rosters making it even more difficult to find a roster spot.

There are valying degrees of good and whatever level of good those players are now doesn't matter because they will continue to get better. That's true with all rookies no matter if they are draft picks or UDFA's.

Cowboy Management has always done an excellent job finding hidden gems within the undrafted free agents. Not only this season, but for a long time. Player like Romo, Austin, Leary were high end undrafted starters.
