Actually, I know dang near everything about him, but not sure why he was given so much credit for this in particular when entire other leagues did the same thing.

The NFL isn't the other leagues so Schramm was indeed innovative in this regard. Actually wearing white at home wasn't Schramm's claim to fame. The Cowboys were one of the first teams to use computers if not the first. At one point he put a marker at the 20 yard line to indicate the red zone and others followed suit. He put those strings on the goal posts to show wind direction. He moved the goal posts to the back of the end zone. He had many other innovations including sexy cheerleaders. Before Schramm, there were mostly high school kids on the sidelines. The squads that had adult women dressed them like grandmas. Schramm is the reason for what we today call NFL Cheerleaders, however you feel about them. He was also one of the proponents of instant replay when everybody thought it was a crazy idea. I know you know all about him but he truly made a difference in the league.
