I had to skip my last week's unimpressed III due to a death in the family, funeral and the such. In short, I was impressed last week.

I predicted a win today and was pretty confident with it. I thought this team turned the corner but evidently that is not the case yet. There is a lot of work to do because we are still in the process

My general opinions on this game:

Referees

I never like to blame them but there were some missed calls today. For one, the play-clock expired on their drive in the 4th, clearly to me anyways. I saw some of our D linemen get tackled in the 2nd half, obvious tackles at that. I can't recall the others ATM but a few stood out. I am sure some were missed on their end too but ours seemed more costly. However, those did not cost us the win.

Offense

They had a pretty good first half and a bad second half. Romo played pretty good until it was panic time then it was the Romo-Witten show again with the usual ending. I think he forgets there are other teammates at times. Romo did not get any help from his receivers(excluding Dez) for the most part. But, was that their fault or the coaches? There were some dropped passes, Williams had a decent game(until the fumble) and Beasley had a few clutch catches. Harris should have been looked upon more unless he was more injured than I was led to believe.

I don't blame Romo, Williams or the rest of the bunch. The fault lies on the coaches(which I will get into later). The off line wasn't stellar this week, Romo was either scrambling or hesitant but never looked totally comfortable. He made some really nice throws throughout the game and a few misfires.

Where was Escobar and Hanna?

Defense

Kind of like the offense but only a decent first half and an abysmal second half. Morris is turning into my worst nightmare. He can not defend the slant at all and he seems to not have his head in the game. He lacks a dominant personality trait that corners need to survive. I would say it was due to the shoulder but that would be lying IMO, he is soft at this point in his career. Maybe this is due to coaching again, maybe not.

Our linebackers have a hard time covering receivers, especially past 15 or so yards. The def line did not get much pressure and Rivers torched us. He played a great game.

They constantly ran to their left side and abused them. At some point, Ware needs to stop bull-rushing and contain over there or at least have someone come in and plug the gap. He had one tackle, one tackle! In the first game, he had zero. For someone who is considered one of the best, we need more out of him in this defense. Sorry if I ruffle some feathers but he is not consistent, just like this football team.

Coaching

This was their worst game performance IMO. It is almost like the offensive coaches copied week 2's game-plan convinced it would work. They went back to dinking and dunking and more audibling(less than week 2). That is fine but they need to adjust when it is not working. Same goes for the defense. When Mo and the middle is getting torched, try some man-to-man, these guys are not too good at zone coverage. It is the coaches job to put the players in position to win and I saw minimal adjustments.

I was most frustrated with the 56yd FG attempt. That was the wrong time to attempt that. We finally get field position back and they do that, was a dumb mistake. It may not have cost them the game at that time but it did not help matters. This game was like a tale of two halves. We played good for part and bad for the other.

I feel like this was the show Survivor...we got out-matched, out-played and out-witted. I give props to SD, they went out and took the game riding River's and Woodhead's back.

So, we sit at 2-2 with 2-3 looking us in the face. No one will give us a chance to beat Denver and Peyton will throw for 10 TD's, yadda yadda yadda. This is the type of game that Dallas plays well in and I will not be surprised if we pull out a win or play them extremely close. This division is still up for grabs and it will only take one team to get hot at the right time to win it. I am not counting us out but they do have to get better and find their identity sooner than later.

In summary, we lost this game because of coaching and nothing more IMO. It is their fault the offense and defense was lacking due to poor or no adjustments.

Lets stop blaming the referees. 3rd quarter tell. Chargers coaches made adjustments at half and i believe the score from there was 17 to 0. They made adjustments for which cowboy brain trust had no answers. Quite telling imo both sides of the ball.

I guess you stopped reading at referees then. That is where I stated they did not cost us the game but lack of adjustments did at the end.

That 56 yard attempt was just dumb. But this was not the first time that Garrett has done something like that. He doesn't have a feel for the game and he compensates for that by making these irrational decisions. A good coach would consult with his team and the other coaches. Ask what they would think and weigh the risk & reward on such a gamble. A sensible coach would not have made that decision.

Hate to say but as long as the gameplan is centered around throwing first you're gonna be unimpressed quite often. I don't know how else to say it but BP WAS RIGHT! There's an effect on the defense when you pass so much like lack of rest. The run game helps this team out two fold, it keeps the defense fresh and it's our best way to score (off play action)! not to mention, no one has stopped Murray in three games from compiling more of an argument that he needs to be featured more prominently every week.
