What a bunch of garbage.

Most of the immigrants I know work way harder than the American-born lazy sacks of crap that are faking disability and sponging off the government. And I happen to know several people from each category.

When you say immigrants did you mean legal or illegal?

It's sad isn't it? From a sociological perspective, you have to wonder if it has to do with the influx of immigrants. Hear me out. I'm not saying they are stupid, but rather value work > education. That has to do a little with it, in my opinion. However, the advances in technology are helping people become lazy and more stupid, even though information is the most available now than it has ever been.

It has more to do with the fact that we keep cutting and cutting from public education, have basically no incentive for people to want to become a public teacher, and tell kids they're exceptional even when they're not. We have idiots leaving high schools thinking they're special because everybody is afraid to tell them the real world is going to chew them up and spit them out.

Legal, but I'm sure they would be hard workers with or without documentation.

Rutgers didn't pay for this. The students did with their entertainment fees. I agree it was a waste, but they can pay for whatever they want with their own money.

There is quite a bit of truth to this. Americans are spoiled rotten and a huge section is very lazy. And as another poster above pointed out, all of the youth thinks they're special. We have bred a generation of kids who have always been called winners even if they win last place or get C's in school. They have no incentive to work hard because we give them everything they desire.

I work with many foreign kids. Chinese, indian, etc etc and these kids work like dogs 7 days a week without complaint. An american kid would whine and cry until you let them go to the mall. I just can't help but wonder how long this country can sustain it's world ranking when our kids are this lazy and stupid.

That is not accurate for every state

Texas has spent more money in the last 8 years than they ever have on education (Senator Dan Patrick Senate seat 7 has posted all the data on this) the issue is the waste that goes on at the local school districts in Texas. More money than ever and no significant improvement.

Most superintendents are over payed and have more administrators than they need. This is rampant at the school districts.

The schools can not maintain order in the classroom and they have problem children they they keep in the main classrooms when they care nothing about school causing disturbances. They can not suspend them because the school looses money. Schools get budgets based on attendance if a child skips class enough he going to fail no matter what the school sends parent a note they will have to pay xxxx number of dollars if kid does not start going to class by the courts. They make kid go to school kid goes to class has no way of passing now and does not care. Sits in the classroom causing issues.

Stupid crap like this that mismanagement of money by a local government (IE school boards) Teacher Unions that prevent teachers from being fired they become lazy and complacent. Money is not the issue the issue is all the corruption and mismanagement at the local level

Not just immigrants, but even in higher education, our colleges and universities are our saving grace in keeping the US competitive, but with the recent push for extreme difficulties in obtaining residencies a lot of highly educated entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, etc are returning to their countries for employment rather than staying here. It is a slow but sure "brain drain" and may be difficult for America to compete, particularly with the government continuing to cut funding for research that makes it extremely competitive to even get a grant for anything.

Or kids from NJ saw Snooki "representing" NJ and figured theyd get a laugh out of seeing her rather than Carrot top or an American Idol reject.

Theres a small chance thats what it is rather than America not being so great anymore
