Here are the players that ended 2024 on the Cowboys' roster that are still available in free agency. I don't think any of them have a chance right now of coming back to the team.
-DT Linval Joseph: Played significant snaps last year but now enters his 16th year in the NFL. If he doesn't retire, his best hopes of landing another job is if some team suffers a rash of training camp injuries.
-LB Erik Kendricks: The guess here is the Cowboys have already moved on from him by acquiring Kenneth Murray and Jack Sanborn; who will compete for snaps alongside Marist Liufau until DeMarvion Overshown is healthy.
-DE Carl Lawson: Quietly had one of his better seasons last year, but with the signings of Dante Fowler and Payton Turner, there doesn't appear to be a spot here for him anymore.
-CB Amani Oruwariye: Has starting experience but was something of a liability when pressed into starting in 2024. The Cowboys would probably rather see what Kaiir Elam and their other young corners can do rather than try and make it work with him again.
-LB Nick Vigil: An aging special teams option who's best bet is to latch onto some team's practice squad at some point. I think any chance of him returning here ended with Mike Zimmer's departure.
-DT Carlos Watkins: Played 15 games as a rotational piece with minimal impact. Would be a cheap veteran backup for any team he signs with, if any.
