Excluding the obvious players who deserve major credit, I figured I would name some players who made key plays in critical situations last night that haven't been recognized as much as Romo, Austin, Felix, etc.
Patrick Crayton: Dallas had just won a crucial challenge which kept a Philly INT off the board. On that same drive, the Cowboys faced a crucial 3rd and 9 from their own 43 yard line. A non-conversion here gives Philly momentum and confidence in a tied ballgame at 7-7. Like he has all year, Mr. Clutch on 3rd down comes up big again, converting a huge 3rd down that would lead to a Choice TD run. Lets not forget he also had a couple great punt returns. Kudos to Mr. Crayton.
Roy Williams: On the same drive as Crayton's big 3rd down catch, Roy E. Williams made a huge 3rd down conversion as well. I've been critical of Roy at times, but he made some great catches Saturday night. We faced a 3rd and 7 from the Philly 36 yard line, Roy runs a great comeback route on Samuel and keeps the drive going which lead to the Choice TD run as well. He also converted a 3rd and 10 from the Philly 13 yard line which lead to a Suisham FG.
Orlando Scandrick: What an impressive game this kid had. Jason Avant only had one reception I believe. This really isn't being talked of because Jenkins is playing at an elite level, but Orlando has really picked his game up the past month. I had Scandrick as one player who had to have a great game in the slot. He passed with flying colors.
Martellus Bennett: Yes, Marty B has regressed this year...as a RECEIVER. His blocking has been great this year. On Felix's 73 yard TD run, Bennett did an awesome job of sealing off Juqua Parker to spring Felix to paydirt. Great blocking, Martellus.
Shaun Suisham: Didn't this kick remind you of "44-6" when Pacman fumbled right before halftime and Akers nailed a 52 yarder to make it 27-3? It was sweet redemption when Dallas got the ball back with :57 seconds due to a Bradie James fumble strip and recovery; which led to Suisham nailing a 48 yarder that gave all of us a sigh of relief and pushed the Dallas lead to a commanding 27-7. This kick essentially buried the Eagles' season when they felt our exact feelings of "44-6," which were: "We have no chance."
Well those are my unsung heroes guys. Who are yours?
