To maintain the proper posture for the paso doble, Anna told Michael, you should stand as if you were “holding a coin in between your butt cheeks.” Cut to him putting a nickel down his pants. The rehearsal segment ended with a shot of a coin dropping out of his pants leg. The actual performance was less entertaining, even though it started with the former NFL star ripping off most of Anna’s dress to use as a cape. The music, from “Carmen,” added a lot, or at least distracted a lot. The judges were diplomatic. In order to avoid talking about Michael’s draggy steps, Carrie Ann praised his intensity, and Len praised his posture. “Michael, keep that nickel in your butt,” said Bruno, “because it’s working for you.” Michael gave Bruno the coin, “as a token of my appreciation.” The camera didn’t reveal where Michael had been keeping it.

I actually watch this show quite a bit and I'm surprised at how bad Irvin is. He should have been voted off two weeks ago.

I expected him to be a contender, but he is surprisingly stiff and subdued.

I don't watch this show, but I am not surprised he is a poor dancer. Don't you remember how stiff he looked whenever the ball was in his hands? Or some of his end zone celebrations? He never looked light on his feet. That is probably why he seemed to get tackled at the 1 yard line so often. If he had more rhythm and moves he probably would have scored more TDs.
