What a disgrace. Drunk driving alone should carry a bigger penalty than what Stallworth got for KILLING SOMEONE while driving drunk.

question was invalid, but let's say my nephew was the one who got run down(he is just boneheaded enough to do something like that)

I would be very sad, I would miss him every minute of the rest of my life, but I would still want to know why on earth he thought it was a good idea to cross the road in that manner.

It's very hard, but I strive to not let emotion destroy my ability to have rational thoughts.

Wanting to punish someone for what they did is emotional. I wouldn't wish more lives to be ruined than the one already taken.

But who is to even say how I would react? I pray I never do.

ESPN reported that there was a financial settlement between Stallworth and the Reyes family.

Yeah, that was posted earlier in one of the articles in the thread.

So basically, this resolves all legal and civil issues for Donte.

Only remaining issue is his availability with the NFL.

Interesting...30 days jail...Not bad eh?...Get drunk, drive, kill a human being and get 30 days jail time.

Sounds like an easy way to kill someone you don't like...Just get drunk and run 'em over...Oh wait, you also have to be a rich athlete for a mega-monopoly organization

So basically Michael Vick will have done more time then him?

Great!

hopefully this gives all the Vick haters a little perspective on how things work nowadays.

Vick was made an example of, if anyone doubted that before, I hope they get it now.

Not that what he did wasn't almost as bad as what stallworth did, they are both scumbags.

And anyone trying to rip me or argue with me about vick, save it, I don't want to do that dance anymore.

My God, listen to some of you, crying for more prison time. Obviously, Stallworth paid this family more money than 10 generations of them would make combined, and now perhaps college educations will keep them from running across highways? That's why the family is satisfied with 30 days in jail.

The man is not a ruthless criminal, it was an ACCIDENT. He didn't veer off the road drunk into a house and kill some unsuspecting child watching television. The punishment is deserving of the crime. He'll have 30 long days to think about how he took someone else's life, which should be punishment in its own right.

Drinking and Driving is not an accident, it is a direct violation of the law and has a huge history of causing death and injuries in this country.

Semi-rant. Funny that beer is one of pro football's major sponsors and every commercial they practically poor it down your throat and immediately try to associate 'responsible' alcohol consumption with watching football. Responsible alcohol consumption is like saying pulling out is a safe contraceptive. I'm sure that it works for some people, but if you do it long enough you're eventually gonna get screwed.

At least they make it hard to drive drunk after going to a game, hard to get a good enough buzz when they're 9 bucks a pop.

If you guys want to see the king of the NFLs drunk driving offenders look up Leonard Little.
