Updated 2025 Cap space

Signing Smith would give them more cap space.
we are going to sign smith... we are also going to wait and see on pickens. I think Pickens is going to be huge for us this season, but lets wait and see. Our roster has talented players...... not sure how that is possible since out GM sucks so bad.

That number should be taken in context. The Cowboys are currently $34m OVER next year's cap. They certainly can do things to reduce that but they also have to sign some players and bring in their draft class. They basically have to roll that money over to next year so they don't have to cut people.

They certainly weren't in a position to sign free agents to multi year deals.

That’s totally inaccurate: we’re currently projected to be more than £17m under the cap in 2026.

Like you said though, context. Next year they will also have a series of levers to pull in order to make it work. They can be aggressive if they want to be. They simply dont like the more aggressive approaches because they aren't willing to rebuild.

I dont believe Jerry can sell a rebuild, but we all know he can sell the crap out of sustained mediocrity.

The only thing these snap shots of the cap are good for is here and now. They will all be radically different next league year when new contracts hit and older ones fall off.

How does Clowney leave the building with us having that much cap room? That’s frustrating

Several factors. Many of our own to resign. Some reports of us being over the cap next year. He has other visits scheduled. Jerry is notoriously cheap.......

Cause Jerry probably doesn't want to pay him over 3mill and/or need to add another cb to help with Bland not playing
