2008 NFL Mock Draft

Last Updated: January 25, 2008

22. Dallas Cowboys (from Cleveland) - Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma °
Terrell Owens is 34, and he is entering the final year of his contract with the Cowboys. Compound that with the fact that Terry Glenn turns 34 in July, and it would seem that WR should be a top priority for Dallas. Going first round for a wideout has not been Dallas' style in recent years, but with a talented player like Kelly available, the team may opt to go that route this year. At 6'4" 220, Kelly has prototype size, and while his 4.55 speed isn't world beater, he has the ability to gain separation just by leaping. With a year to work slowly into the system, Kelly could be primed to take over a starting slot in 2009.

28. Dallas Cowboys - Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas °
Jones has been overlooked by many due to the presence of Darren McFadden, but he will earn plenty of attention during the weeks leading up to the draft. He would be a particularly nice fit for the Cowboys, who are likely going to lose Julius Jones to free agency but have Marion Barber, III as a restricted free agent they can very likely keep.

I personally don't like this mock because there's no way Dallas will take a WR with their first pick... I don't like Felix Jones because he's not tough enough between the tackles, I think Rashard Mendenhall or Jonathan Stewart would be a better pick.

The only WR I would want to see us draft in the 1st would be Doucet and I dont think he falls to us.. I wouldnt mind Felix Jones but I think we can get one of the top rbs in the second round, someone will drop they always do.. I would rather see us take a couple of CB's in the first 3 rounds......2 cb's 1-rb and 1-wr... That looks good.. Maybe we could pick up Caldwell in the 2nd....

LOL... and you can guarantee us that the Boys will never, EVER take a WR in the first round this year?? Even after Jerry has been quoted as saying he wants a "wow" OFFENSIVE player in the first round?? We don't need a "wow" quarterback, we don't need a "wow" TE, I don't know that you could call any offensive lineman a "wow" player, that leaves us with WR and RB...

I like both picks, in fact I haven't seen many mocks I like better than this one...

I gotta agree.

This is one of the better mocks I've seen.

If we could somehow land a guy like Cason, Godfrey, or even DRC in round two, then I'd be dancing in the streets.

I really like this. I think Kelly is the safest WR pick in the draft. Best hands in the draft, great size and I'm not worried about his speed he can consistently gets deep on people. Plaxico Burress doesn't exactly set the track on fire, but he gets deep easily. Of the Running Backs I would be happy with Chris Johnson, Felix Jones or Jamal Charles. I think we need a speed back to fully compliment Barber.

Well from what I've heard Dallas will NOT take a WR in the 1st round, also I've heard Mickey Spagnola talk about that as well on the local Cowboys talk shows...

What Jerry says about the draft in December likely has little to do with what we actually end up doing four months later. Especially in this era of free agency.

Hmmmm...I listen to talking Cowboys every day and I haven't heard Micky one time say that Dallas would not take a WR in round one.

In fact I've heard him say just the opposite that he expects them to take a WR in round one along with a corner.

I like this mock better than some of the others I've seen but I really think we've gotta get that 3rd corner in round 1.

I like this mock. I approve this mock.

I realize that a lot want us taking a cb in the first rd., but I believe that the best defense is a good offense (i.e. keep drives alive, keep the defense off the field and fresh).

It's a pretty deep draft for RBs and CBs, so if we flip flop draft positions for those two areas of need, I'd be ok w/ that also. As far as WR is concerned, the only one I'd want is Kelly, so I like this draft a lot.

If you were handicapping this, I think you have to say that WR and CB would be the two biggest needs at this moment. Because of that, you would expect those to be the positions Dallas concentrates on. And the draft looks like it will fall in such a way that those two positions are values where Dallas picks. I think you can get the RB later.
