updated NFLDraftCountdown mock

Thankfully I think Dallas has found their kicker. This is a poor mock draft.

If we draft a kicker that high Hos will :explode:

That might actually make it worth it :D

Would it be horrible to draft a great kicker early? Look how important they are in close games.....provided the hold is good (sorry ROMO, God please forgive me!)

Yes I think it would a mistake to take even the best kicker in day 1 of the draft. I agree they are important but I think you have to go after players who will be seeing 40 to 50 snaps a game over a guy who gets a handful.

You never know....Jerry is a "risk" taker.

We get it - Jerry sucks. But do you really want to be a one-trick pony (or poster, whatever)? In a draft thread, is there really any need for Jerry-bashing?

How would everyone feel about that Aaron Ross?

I'm thinking Daymeion Hughes...:D

I'm a big Horns fans but I have to say I have some doubts about Ross ability.

It would not be a horrible move if you were guaranteed that the kicker was going to be one of the best in the game, especially in today's parity league. Unfortunately, young kickers are unpredictable and most teams don't want to take that risk in the first round. If a first-round kicker turned out to be a bust, that GM/team would become laughing stocks.

Im a Longhorn fan and Ross played well for them but he is over-rated. Somebody is going to be very dissappointed with him...

Sorry, kickers are never worth a high pick. I just wish we had signed one of the two kickers we initially targeted in Fa last year...Bryant and Vinatieri.

No not Ross.........he is way over rated.

We need offense in this draft. With the pressure that Phillips will be bringing, we don't need to be spending a high draft choice on another DB, especially not Ross.

1st, again have us selecting Aaron Ross

2nd round, Mason Crosby, K, Colorado :bang2:

the people who do those draft boards have bills to pay!!!

Jones would never waste a 2nd round Draft pick, sign a player to a second round signing bonus, and lock down a 3-4 year contract (typical of 1st & 2nd round rookies) on a FREAKIN' KICKER!!!

This is point even amplified louder now from the aftermath of the VanderSHANK disaster of last year. He'll never pay top dollar for a kicker again.

San Diego's kicker was a high draft pick...went to the playoffs his first season and he promptly missed 2 field goals to lose the game against the Jets.
Not worth it and JJ has already stated his days of paying big bucks to a kicker are over. Drafting one high in the draft is just as much as a long shot as paying big bucks to a FA kicker.
