Jerra is crazy enough to pusue Urlacher.
So, if Urlacher makes waves, wanting big(ger) money and keeps his distance from the Bears, it might get interesting.

The bears still have to deal with Devin Hester for a big contract and are in no mood to cater to Urlacher's demands. And the Bears are known for being chintzy, big name or not.

Probably, it could be solely a ploy for money and the Bears would want way too much for Urlach anyway, the monster of the Bears defense. And a big name like Urlacher might mean no Roy or Chad in FA, though Pac-Man, if obtained, would require relatively little in terms of the cap.

But if things get hotter in Chicago, you can be sure Jerra will be monitoring that situation.

I think we have bigger needs than LB corps to pursue that. He'll want too much money, money that would need to go into our secondary, and another reciever.

Definately more pressing needs than linebacker. But im assuming he could fit in the 3-4?

ABSOLUTELY NO WAY.

The Bears wouldn't let the heart, soul and face of their franchise leave. The contract will get worked out. It's just all bargaining right now.

Plus, he'd be way too expensive.

where do we find the room under the salary cap to fit not only our guys whose contracts are up, but also all the guys who want bigger contract than their respective teams are willing to pay?

i wonder if Urlacher is going to be seen as a locker disturbance

Is Marion Barber viewed as one?

Exactly, let's spend the money at the LB position to sign Ware to a long-term deal. We don't have to have pro bowl players at ever position.

no to Urlacher...dont need him and he'd be having to make a major change going to the 3-4

we already have to pay a mega deal for Ware soon, no way to justify giving Urlacher a huge deal too (or instead of Ware, Ware is the far better player)

LB is not a high enough priority for me to be interested in Urlacher. I can't imagine what it would take in terms of draft picks and money to get him. Now if he only played CB....

Can't see Jerry going after him, or the Bears even letting him go. But we can always dream.

Plus, it would be a PR nightmare if they let him go to another team. they have a lot of talented players, but Urlacher is the face of the franchise. It would take years for the fanbase to forgive and forget if this were to happen.

NO! NO MORE OLD GUYS FROM OTHER TEAMS! Lets get some players who are Dallas Cowboys, not a team full of other team's players they were smart enough to cut early before they started their downward trend!

Interesting thought. Sure I'd love to have him. Who wouldn't. But as someone has already said. You cannot have Pro Bowl players at every position on the team.

He's 29, I think he might have little gas left inb the tank.

No, no, no, and no.

I like Urlacher, no doubt, but there is absolutely no need for him here and especially at the salary it would take to have him here. No thanks. Far more pressing needs, and contracts, to worry bout.

Yer right. Zack, alone, has raised the average age of Cowboy linebackers to 52.
