Urlacher not all that impressive

After I watched him disappear against Shawn Alexander and the Seahawks, I figured it was just one game. But after the Saints never really tried to run, and then the Colts just ran through him, I was thinking, WOW. I counted play after play that he either got caught in the wash or over ran the play. He hasn't been a factor at all in the playoffs.

And not for nothing, but the Cowboys looked better against the Colts.

I'm not sure what Urlacher is really supposed to do when the D-Line in front of him is getting blown up play after play.

Urlacher does rely heavily on his DL to get the push against the opponents OL.

He is a very good player but is slightly over hyped. He has great speed for his size, and plays well against the pass and run. But he is not a sure tackler, and does over pursue fairly consistently.

But I cant say that most guys wouldnt want him on their team. Lance Briggs had a piss poor game last night which surprised me though, and I like him.

I just think that they might have been on the field way too much thanks to Rex and a couple of other fumbles.

True, but the Colts were also converting after the first drive. Both teams played a sloppy game, but I thought the lack of serious pressure killed the Bears.

are you crazy? He was all over the field. Go back and watch the film. He was in almost every tackle the entire game. I don't see how you could expect him to do more.

After Manning realized he had to take what they were giving him, he excelled. That is the nature of the Cover 2 defense. Take what they give you. Chicago got beat because they aren't nearly the offensive power that Indianapolis is.

I agree. The Bears were expecting the Colts to pass more and Urlacher was playing off the LOS most of the game, clogging up the middle (see any passes completed short over the middle last night?). He came up in run support after the play was already established and was in on a lot of tackles. I saw him a lot of times deep down field in coverage and he was the guy chasing Wayne on his 53-yard TD.

He had 10 tackles, knocked down one pass, and basically shut down the short middle of the field. Maybe not his best game but certainly not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Imagine that, one guy isn't good enough to beat 11.

I thought Peyton manning was particularly unimpressive last night. But nobody will remember that.

Difference is that Manning made the adjustments on offense, whereas the Bears D did not.

Manning certainly didnt have a rockstar performance, but he played more of a "bus driver" role than I have seen out of him. Which was what the Colts needed against a defense like the Bears. And the Colts OL really played great football last night.

Who cares about Urlacher.... If we move Rivera in here I want him to bring BRIGGS with him.

Urlacher is the best MLB in the game. He plays the run well and he is the best in pass defense and that is what the game is about today. Just ask anyone that game plans when they watch Roy Williams in pass defense.

The game was a monsoon and Manning didn't kill his team like Grossman did. The Bears defense was on the field too much and defending a short field all game.

LOL - I thought Urlacher & Vasher were the only two playing decently last night. Come to think of it, the entire secondary did their part - it's the front 7 (excluding Urlacher) that disappeared.

As far as the posters who stated that the DL had to keep the OL off Urlacher - that would be a valid point, except that Urlacher spent most of the game 5-10 yards off the line, as they were trying to shut down the pass.

You forgot Briggs.

THe guy is an absolute ball hawk who can also cover.

I'd love him to come with Rivera.

Correct. Yet with the Colts keeping the ball all game and playing on a short field, they only scored 22 points. An int. return accounted for the other seven points.

Unfortunately for Urlacher, everyone expects him to make every play and LOTS of BIG plays and everytime he misses a tackle or gets burned, he becomes the most overhyped LB in the league. Sound like RW here..... Personally, I think he's more valuable than RW and I'll take these players (RW, Urlacher) any day and twice on Sundays.
