USA Today Mock with draft experts from 4 publications

We see Rico very differently. I see him as slightly better than serviceable, at his very best. Adding a top quality RB is very much a need IMO.
Well, he had the exact same number of yards as Tony Pollard this year (1079) in spite of being used sparingly for half a season. He averaged 4.6 YPC too. Look, I wasn't high on dowdle either at the beginning of the season. But he is a lot better than anyone thought including the coaching staff. We have to draft a rb b/c he is likely going to get a deal in free agency that we aren't going to want to match. I just don't want to see us blow the 12th pick to replace him.

I can see Jerry trading down a few spots to15-16 and then draft Jeanty

If you look at Dowdle's use, the coaching staff platooned him for half the season which was ridiculous in hindsight. It's like they didn't know what they had in dowdle and stubbornly stuck to their preseason plan. Had they used Dowdle in the first 8 games like they did on the final 9, Dowdle probably has 1600 yards rushing.

Over the past 10 years, it's been a rare rb that's been drafted in round 1 and even rarer for 5 out of the league's 6 leading rusher to be first round picks. That not the norm. It should also be noted that 3 of those 6 aren't running for the teams that drafted them anymore. Top tier free agent rbs go for 10-12M per year. So, why burn a first round rookie contract? A top 12 pick needs to the used on a premium position like CB, DE, or DT and lord knows we have need at all 3 of those position.
Rico SHOULD be pplatoons. Hes not a lead back or every down back. He's been injured every year in the nfl even while barely playing.

I was thinking what he did with Parsons ........ moved from 10 to 12 and picked up an extra 3rd
I'm just saying that Jerry usually does the dumb thing. Occasionally, something like the Parson trade back falls into his lap but there's no plan. He just got lucky Philly called after Denver took Surtain.

In 2023 six of the top 8 RB's were drafted in the 1st or 2nd round.

In 2022 the top six RB's were drafted in the 1st or 2nd round.

Yes, you can find "serviceable" RB's in any round.

"Serviceable" does not put you in the Super Bowl unless your QB's last name is Brady or Mahomes.

Having an elite RB takes a lot of pressure off a young QB and most of the previous 11 drafting teams have a young QB.

Again, I see at least four teams in front of the Cowboys where drafting Jeanty would make a lot of sense.

Teams may have defensive needs but an elite RB capable of keeping the offense on the field can cure a lot of defensive woes.

I agree ........Bears and Panthers for sure. Jags......maybe but like you said, I'm not convinced he's getting out of 10.
