HUGE upset if US can pull this off!!!

Amazing job by the US. Went ahead early on lots of chances created, then weathered the Spanish attack in the 2nd half before breaking their backs with that second goal.

Though now we get to be stomped by Brazil in the finals, who most decidedly won't be taking us as lightly.

Wow, I honestly did not think the US had a chance in this one!

neither did I...Spain was clear #1, 15 straight wins, 35 straight unbeaten

what a great upset!

WOW!! flippin awesome!! if the US cared about soccer at all this would be a huge deal

Actually, I believe Italy won the last World Cup ..

And yes, this was a great win for the US .. I was at lunch in a sports bar and it was like no one even cared to watch it yet it was on most of the screens. It was definitely exciting and the US soccer team looked like they really wanted to win that game by giving everything they had including sacrificing their bodies.

I'd love to see them win the finals :)

You're right...it was the Eurocup....those two blend together a bit...

Dempsey is an East Texas kid...from Nacogdoches...if everyone didn't know.

We it is a lunch crowd on a word day. We had it on in the office today and a lot of people were watching. Not as much as the US Open, sure... but still.

Nice time to give the rest of the world a taste of it's own medicine after those years were we couldn't even make it to an olympic final in basketball. It's time we start beating other countries at their games now.

I'm actually a big Spain fan, but I had to put off my love for the way of Spanish ball for my country.

This is really typical of Spain though. They are kind of like the Dallas Cowboys of Soccer. Underachieving.

congrats guys. as much as i root for the underdog i was hoping you got beat just so i could see a spain v brazil final. now i need to hope south africa can also pull off a shock. i didn't see much of the game, end of the first half online when i was in work but i missed the second half because i was going to my mates to watch the tna ppv from sunday night.

just watched the highlights on the bbc website there. really impressive performance, first half you dominated from what i saw and then dug deep in the second half. rode your luck a wee bit with some great last ditch challenges and saves from howard but fair play to you, you deserved the win. donovans cut back for the second goal was class even if sergio ramos shoould have dealt with it. i thought bradley was a little unlucky with his red card, he did appear to get some contact on the ball. in saying that it was a dangerous lunge with his studs showing that could easily have broken the guys leg if he'd caught him so i doubt it will get overturned. one of those kind of challenges that 20 years ago would have been a free kick and maybe a booking but these days are usualy straight reds.

the bradley challenge was an absurd redcard, the worst we have gotten out of all 3 in the tourny.... we also had a few offsides called back for no reason, most notibly connor caseys. either way, we deserved to win, we put in a fighters performance, and i give huge credit to our team who i had written off after the brazil raping. football is a funny ole game, isnt it?

For a country that has been so talent rich in soccer they still don't have a World Cup. They will be expected to bring one back next summer.

if you want to make a comparison.... england=the dallas cowboys.

so you think the cowboys are arrogant and nowhere near as good as their media and fans think they are? :D
