For the second straight year, the Cowboys have lost a linebacker to Kansas City. Last year it was Anthony Hitchens who departed for the Chiefs, this year it’s Damien Wilson.

The University of Minnesota alum joins Hitchens on a Kansas City squad that made it all the way to the AFC Championship game in 2018, eventually succumbing to the Patriots.

Wilson has started an average of eight games each year for the Dallas since 2016, making a positive impact in his relief role on defense and on special teams. With rising stars Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch cemented in their roles, the restructuring of Sean Lee’s contract, and re-signing of Justin March-Lillard, Wilson’s exit was all but a done-deal.

Although he’s had his ups and downs, including an arrest in 2017, Wilson for his part will look back fondly on his time in Dallas.
