The Dallas Cowboys have had to manage the workload of their receiver group through the first half of the season, so it shouldn’t be a suprise they will continue to have to do so during the second half of the year.
Dallas lost second-year wideout Michael Gallup to a knee injury for a couple of games early in the season, and backup wide receiver Tavon Austin missed a handful of contests as well. And although he’s played every game through the first nine weeks of the season, No. 1 receiver Amari Cooper has had his fair share of ailments. During Monday’s big win over New York, Cooper left the field for several snaps while getting his knee evaluated. He returned to score the game-clinching touchdown, but the knee was enough of an issue that he had an MRI done on Wednesday and will not participate in Thursday’s practice.
Amari Cooper isn’t going to practice today after sustaining that knee injury on Monday.
Think that’s more about the short week than anything. Cowboys are optimistic he can practice tomorrow and play Sunday.

Cooper leads the Cowboys with 42 receptions for 701 yards on the year, including six touchdown receptions. His 16.7 yards-per-reception average is the highest of his five-year career.
Cooper has been dealing with lower body ailments since he had an issue with the plantar fascia in his foot during the summer. That knocked him out of most of training camp and the preseason. Since, he’s also dealt with an ankle injury and most recently with a thigh bruise. That knocked him out of the loss to the New York Jets after just a handful of snaps on the team’s opening possession.
Meanwhile on the other sideline, star WR Adam Thielen didn’t practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury and some doubt he will be available for the Sunday night contest between the Vikings (6-3) and Cowboys (5-3).
This article will update when the full Thursday injury report is available.
