For the Dallas Cowboys the linebacker position could be the toughest for Dan Quinn and his defensive staff to figure out in 2021. Where does Quinn assign each player in each defensive set? The guys who play in a 3-4 base or a 4-3 base could be completely different than who plays in nickel. Even deciding who will be the dime LB, or the big nickel LB is a tough decision.
In reality, those are good problems to have as long as the decision maker isn’t beholden to tenure-earned playing time. But before the decisions on which alignments for each player will maximize their potential, the decision on who makes the 53-man roster must be made.
