The Dallas Cowboys will host the New York Giants Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season. Yes, them, again. This has become something of a tradition, and the NFL is looking to hit on traditional matchups hard as it celebrates the league’s 100th Season.
This will mark the third time in four years that the Cowboys have hosted the Giants to start the season. Las Vegas outlets have the Cowboys favored from -7 to -7.5. Superbooks William Hill and Westgage have the Cowboys at -7.5, while you can find a -7 line at BetOnline. The early over/under ranges from 46 to 46.5.
2018’s NFC East Champion faces its last-place finisher, and Giants may have only gotten worse. They traded away Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon and lost Landon Collins to free agency. The only pivotal piece the Cowboys lost was Cole Beasley, who they quickly replaced with the apt Randall Cobb. DeMarcus Lawrence has proclaimed his expectation that he’ll be back for the Week 1 matchup, just in time to attack his favorite target, Eli Manning. Although it’s early, Vegas sees it the same way.

The 2016 matchup featured a first-time starter at quarterback, and a baby-faced running back making their NFL debutes. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott weren’t able to squeak that one out, their 4th-quarter drive falling short when now-departed Terrance Williams avoided going out of bounds as the clock expired. (Face-palm.)
The duo would get their revenge in 2017, taking down Eli Manning and crew to start the season 1-0. In 2019, the rubber match is here. The Cowboys should be favored to win this game following a year in which they made it to the divisional round of the playoffs, and the Giants went 5-11.
