The 2019 offseason period has been an active one for the Dallas Cowboys scouting department after losing both West Coast Area Scout Jim Abrams and long-time national scout Walter Juliff to the Oakland Raiders.

The team took a step to fill these vacancies with the hiring of Klein Kubiak. If the name appears familiar it should. Kubiak is the son of former NFL QB and head coach Gary Kubiak.

The #Cowboys have hired Klein Kubiak as a new area scout. Kubiak was let go by the #Broncos this month after 5 years in Denver. Kubiak also interned for the #Texans and played at @RiceUniversity. Cowboys lost area scout Jim Abrams to #Raiders earlier this spring.

Kubiak joins the Cowboys after spending the past five years with the Broncos as an intern, player personnel assistant and finally Southwest Area Scout. After concluding their scouting season in early May, Denver elected not to renew his contract.

Kubiak will be settling in on fellow Rice alumni Will McClay’s scouting team as an area scout, possibly taking over the west coast responsibilities left open by Abram’s departure.
