The Dallas Cowboys made a couple of moves thus far in free agency, even though they were low key and not signings of big-name players. On Tuesday they added some name recognition to their haul, coming to terms with WR Randall Cobb.

The former Green Bay Packer will join the Dallas receiving corps after spending his entire career in Wisconsin. The deal is reportedly for one year, $5 million.

With the recent departure of Cole Beasley to Buffalo, the Cowboys are short on reliable and proven production in the slot. They brought back speedster Tavon Austin on a one-year deal, but with a major injury history, it’s tough to believe he’s the answer there.

Enter Cobb, age 28. Like Beasley, Cobb plays a large majority of his snaps out of the slot (87.9 percent in 2018).

Cobb has been incredibly productive throughout his career when healthy, though his production has declined over the last several years.

He played just nine games in 2018 due to hamstring and concussion issues. He caught 38 passes for 383 yards and two touchdowns, all his lowest since his rookie season in 2012.

Prior, though, he was a trusted target for Aaron Rodgers. In his career, Cobb has accumulated 470 catches for 5,524 yards and 75 touchdowns in 105 games.
