Time is running out on the Dallas Cowboys various injury concerns for Week 6. Normally, the club likes to have players practice at least once before putting them into a Sunday game, and Friday is the final day for that to happen as the team travels on Saturday to take on the New York Jets.
Unforunately, there will need to be some wiggle room to that rule if Jason Garrett wants either Tyron Smith (ankle) or La’el Collins (knee) to suit up. Neither practiced on Friday, nor did wide receiver Randall Cobb, who showed up on the injury report with back and hip ailments this week.
All three have been designated as questionable for the game.
There was a bit of good news for the defense though, as the offense is under siege, with linebacker Leighton Vander Esch returning. After missing the last two days due to illness, the weak-side linebacker is all set to start on Sunday and try to get back in the swing of things after a bad performance in Week 5.
As for the other side of the field, New York has several major question marks due to injury.
Linebacker CJ Mosley (groin), defensive tackle Henry Anderson (shoulder) and tackle Kelechi Osemele (illness) all missed practice all week and are listed as doubtful to play as is reserver running back Trenton Cannon (foot/ankle).
The Jets also have four players designated as questionable, including wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (hamstring). Not listed on the Jets injury report is quarterback Sam Darnold, who will make his first start after missing several games with mono.
