Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Amari Cooper hasn’t practiced since leaving the practice field in Oxnard on August 3. The injury has been described as everything from a heel bruise to plantar fasciitis. What was once brushed off as a precautionary measure has kept him out of the fold for nearly a month. That’s about to change.
The Cowboys have been incredibly conservative with their cornerstone players to this point, knowing having them for the regular season is the primary goal. For the worried fan, it’s time to take a deep breath as Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News is reporting that Cooper will return to practice Monday.
Expect him to show up on the injury report throughout the week, perhaps even for an extended part of the season but foot injuries aren’t new to Cooper. He spent his rookie season in 2015 dealing with a similar ailment and still recorded over 1,000 yards receiving for the Oakland Raiders.
After being traded for a first-round pick in the middle of the 2018 season, Cooper racked up more yards and touchdowns than anyone on the Cowboys’ roster. He is currently on his fifth year option from his rookie contract and is one of three key cogs of the offense seeking a long term contract.
