USC Pro Timing Day

The Trojans held their annual NFL timing day on campus Wednesday with coaches and scouts in attendance to put former USC players through a series of drills and tests. Click below for more information and photos:
The Trojans who participated were as follows:

* Matt Grootegoed
* Gregg Guenther
* Alex Holmes
* Ryan Killeen

* Ronald Nunn

There were also several current or former players in attendance watching including Sam Cunningham, Kenechi Udeze, Sultan McCullough, Matt Leinart, Dominique Byrd, Kyle Williams, Manuel Wright, Darnell Bing, Eric Wright, Chauncey Washington, Keith Rivers, Dwayne Jarrett, Jeff Byers, Ryan Kalil, John David Booty, Rocky Hinds, David Kirtman and more.
The day featured ht/wt measurements, bench press (reps of 225), vertical leap, broad jump, 40 yard dash, 4 cone-drill and shuttle. The players also went through position specific testing including throwing, catching, backpedaling and kicking.

Shaun Cody (DE) - Cody (6-3 7/8, 292) ran his 40s in 5.03 and 5.05. He had a 30-inch vertical jump, a 8-foot-1 long jump, a 4.54 in the short shuttle and 7.70 in the cone.
Mike Patterson (DT) - Patterson (5-11 3/8, 291) ran his 40s in 4.93 and 4.90. He had a 32½-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot long jump, a 4.51 short shuttle and a 7.68 cone.
Matt Cassel (QB) - Cassel (6-4 3/8, 222) ran 4.90 and 4.93 in the 40. He had a 34-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-7 long jump, a 4.08 short shuttle and a 7.21 cone. He's been a backup quarterback to Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart and was drafted in baseball by the A's.
Matt Grootegoed (LB) - Grootegoed (5-10½, 211) ran 4.80 and 4.72 in his 40s. He had a 34-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-1 long jump, a 4.39 short shuttle, a 12.12 long shuttle and a 7.40 cone drill with 22 strength lifts.
Lofa Tatupu (LB) - Tatupu (6-0, 240) ran 4.70 and 4.73 in the 40. He had a 4.27 short shuttle and a 7.68 cone. A lot of scouts talked to him afterwards about his weight and thought looked a little too heavy at 240 pounds and needed to get back to his playing weight (225 pounds).
