i have a hard time believing the light was red or people from the other side would have run out

I just saw a report too that said the driver ran a red light.

The kid only got a few stitches. He should be thankful he is still alive and just walk away from this entire situation regardless if the guy ran a light or not.

It's a stupid tradition they have at UT. Students line each side of the crosswalk with foam "swords"... when the light turns red and they can cross, they run to the center and have a sword fight... retreating when the light is green again...

This Einstein got a little anxious and went Sparta a couple of seconds too early...

Oh... and as you might expect, he has retained a lawyer and may sue...

Who is he suing? And for what?

Himself, for walking in front of a bus?

If he sues, I hope that after he loses, the city makes him pay for the window he broke.

Unfortunately the city has a history of giving in to stupid lawsuits and will end up paying out.

Um, where do you get this from? And why would the city or cap metro pay this dimwit?

Living in Austin for over 16 years and seeing them cave on lawsuits in the past. Experience shows they have a tendency to settle instead of fighting lawsuits that they should easily win.

You're wrong. Travis county is as stubborn as they come because of Texas' state immunity laws.... In these cases, there is even a cap as to how much he could actually get in a law suit.

This case won't sniff a courtroom.

To be fair, it does look like the bus ran a red light. If you look right as he steps onto the road, other kids on the other side are already getting onto the road...he might've been getting on the road just before other students were, but that bus did run the red light.

With that said, who doesn't look both ways before crossing, especially Guadalupe st. Just dumb, but I'm glad he's OK.

According to this article (http://www.statesman.com/news/local/bus-driver-who-hit-student-will-likely-have-2346677.html), both the Austin police and the Capitol Metro administration agree the bus driver did not run a red light.

APD got a tape. They don't get many things right. I mean, it is APD. But they don't have to look too hard for evidence. It's all on tape, which doesn't lie to anyone....

Oh do they have on tape that he ran out on yellow/green?

I was just looking at some of the memes, and before he's hit by the bus, you can see people on the other end of the street already into the crosswalk, so I just assumed that the bus was in teh crosswalk on red.

I could be wrong though I didn't see it.

Also, I'm glad I missed foam sword Friday.
