UW-Whitewater senior linebacker Lane Olson a NFL safety prospect w/4.47 speed in 40

While Olson's college career is winding down, his football career might not necessarily be over. In the last several months, a flock of NFL player personnel officials have trekked to Whitewater with the sole purpose of evaluating Olson.

Even though Olson didn't compete against NCAA Division I teams and he hardly fits the profile of an NFL linebacker, Olson has been too productive and too dominant of a player not to check out. What's more, these NFL scouts are intrigued by Olson's potential ... as a safety.

Olson not only has proven to be an adept tackler, he has shown scouts he has the speed to play in the secondary, having been timed at 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

"I had some scouts looking at me as a junior and they said if I had a real good senior year I would get some opportunities," Olson said. "Since then, I've talked to every NFL team except four of them. They've watched me practice and have watched film on me."
