Van Halen Recording First Album Since Clinton Administration

Posted Mon Aug 9, 2010 10:40am PDT by Mike Ryan

The news that Van Halen is recording its first studio album in twelve years with original lead singer David Lee Roth may have fans wanting to, well, jump. It has certainly been a long wait since 1998's "Van Halen III." Speculation of a recorded reunion has been thrown around since 2008, when Van Halen completed a successful reunion tour that featured original frontman David Lee Roth with the band for the first time since the 1984 Tour (plus a brief appearance at the 1996 MTV Music Awards)..

That much-anticipated new album has now been confirmed: Guitarist Eddie Van Halen and his brother, drummer Alex Van Halen, released a statement saying, "[Van Halen] is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth that is due for release in 2011.".

If that wasn't enough good news for VH fans, the new album is expected to be accompanied by a world tour.

:laugh2: It will be fun to see if David Lee Roth can execute his famous jump split from a walker!

If the finish and put out the CD...I doubt the tour lasts very long.

They are like oil and water and Dave is a huge jerk. Now don't get me wrong, eddie is a jerk as well but Dave trumps him.

I hope and pray I can be forgiven for this.

Michael adds a lot to the band with his backing vocals.

I can easily see them not making it through the recording sessions.

I don't even know what to say about that. I'm pretty much speechless.

Now you're hitting below the belt Hos.

I'm really happy to see that a new VH album is in the works! I agree with Cowboy Monkey though....gotta get Michael Anthony back in the band.
Anytime you get a chance to see Eddie play live, don't miss it.

I saw VH in the early days when they opened for Black Sabbath. VH blew the doors off of BS. It was indeed a great show.

I know it makes me satan or whatever but I prefer van hagar.

Love all the other stuff to though obviously.

If they put out a new album I will buy it. I hated that vhIII nonsense though.

I thought Hagar did a good job as their frontman. The one thing I respected them for was that they completely cut bait with DLR and started over rather than trying to find a Roth "sound-a-like" and living off of the past.

They put on a good show a few years ago whent hey came down here. Wolfy is a solid base player, but he does not have Michael's flair or showmanship

Still.. I'd rather have Hagar. The music was better, imo.

Theres a quote from Ozzy back in the day saying part of the reason he quit Sabbath was because VH was blowing them off the stage every night. ha

I'll believe this though when i have the cd in my hand.

I heard the album release was delayed recently while Davide Lee Roth checked into rehab for his addiction to stool-softeners.
