Roth hands down but I do like some of the Hagar stuff on the first album or two.

Sammy is fun to listen to, just fun rock n roll stuff.

And total thumbs up on the AC/DC call. I don't think it's even close.

Roth as a whole because they just had some killer early stuff.

Hated OU812. Loved Sammy with 5150 and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge with a big lead going to 5150 (some great guitar and songs on there).

As others noted...Like Sammy Solo and loved the old montrose. Sammy had a few good songs on the chickenfoot outing as well.

Liked stuff dave did with Steve Vai but not much after that.

Ive seen VH 8 times beginning in 79,six times with Roth and 2 with Sam. There is only one VH frontman and that is diamond dave.
I dont care how many records VH sold with spammys silly lyrics about love and aliens the stuff they did with roth trumps this easily.
Hopefully soon we will be discussing their new album and tour....

Can't wait......but I still think it's a big mistake to not have Michael Anthony back with the rest of the original lineup. He is the backing vocals of Van Halen.

Ooops forget to mention that. Its really crappy how Ed and Al pretty much forced MA out of the band after all those good years.
Im sure Ed was just itching to get Wolfie in the band.
Nepotism at its best.
VH from inception up until around 84 were untouchable by any current band of the day. It sad that egos and everything else got in the way of this once great entity.

When posting about VH it is proper to cite your favorite album.

When we lived in Texas the wife caught me jamming to "I Can't Drive 55" (My favorite Hagar jam). She told me how stupid the song was since the speed limit is 70 on all of the highways and the interstate.

I felt old that day.

Fair Warning is such a great album. Excellent choice!
I think Van Halen I is still the cream of the crop, but my favorite is

Because it has my favorite Van Halen song on it.....

Trivia question about that album cover:
EVH's guitar in this picture, where is it today?

I'm pretty sure that's the now red with white and black striped frankenstrat that Eddie still has.

Eddie did bury one of his guitars with Dimebag Darrell Abbott, of Pantera. It's Eddie's black and yellow-striped Charvel electric guitar which was pictured on the inner sleeve and back cover of VHII :
