Vegas has Cowboys/Rams as pickem game

Vegas might think that the cowboys have a 60% chance to win. But if they put the line at that point there might be a 50-50 split in how people bet. But if they put the line at 50-50 then (as was the case here) 80-90% will bet dallas. So even though vegas thinks dallas has a 60% chance of winning, by keeping the line as 50-50 they make more money.

Vegas lines are about trying to get the money split 50/50, in my understanding. That way they keep the money it costs to place the bet and are guaranteed to win. Vegas doesn't want to gamble. They want to take the for sure money and not risk losing.

That's not what that line means at all.

In a way it is. I know thats not a clear reflection of simply that.
