Thought this was pretty interesting.

I was asked yesterday what a mock might look like if Dallas traded for Michael Turner?

This mock is for entertainment purposes only, as the Vegas disclaimers say. Assuming Dallas drank from the poison chalice and gave its #1 and #3 for Turner (with the #3 this year and the #1 in ‘08, which A.J. Smith has said he would accept) and could get somebody like say, Buffalo to flip their #2 for Mr. Jones, I suggest this:

1. Reggie Nelson, FS, Florida
2A. Anthony Spencer, OLB, Purdue
2B. Justin Blalock, OG, Texas
3. Michael Turner, RB, San Diego Chargers
4. Allan Barbre, OT, Southern Missouri

No WR in the crop unfortunately, but you can’t have everything. But if you could leave round two with Spencer and Blalock in your back pocket, you would do this, wouldn’t you?

So basically we're trading:

a 3rd and 1st and Julius Jones for Michael Turner and a 2nd?

No thanks.

that situation would look better if I can see what WR we end up taking, we must take a WR in this draft

Sometimes people don't know what they have until it's gone... I sure hope that's not the case in Dallas.

I call BS........I bet my sugar cookies that if on draft day dallas offered only a 3rd round pick that SD would bite. There is no way Turner is worth a 1st and 3rd rounder... SD no's that. its just wishful thinking at this point...
Turner will finda team but... there is no way he will bring a 1st and 3rd..pure BS... and for those thinking JJ...will be traded,,,,,he's a cowboy and will be a cowboy for along time.. PS this year draft is Boreing...No Dware's /merrimans...its WR strong that it

And even if Turner is better, is he better by that much?

I'm not against trading for Turner, actually, but giving away next year's #1 as part of the deal? HELL NO.

Never trade next year's first rounder... Unless it's for Tom Brady or someone like that.

If I'm Dallas on trade day I dangle the 3rd rounder and say take it or leave it. Turner is a UFA next year. They take the 3rd or get nothing. It doesn't look like many teams are beating SDs door down for the kid.

I don't see SD getting both a third and a first for Turner. Other teams will hold out for less. Not that he isn't a very intriguing prospect but if SD doesn't trade him this year then he is gone next year. That has to lower his value imo. I could see a team offering a second and a fourth for him. BTW, I really like how SD drafts. Every year, I look at their draft board and say, "yeah, that is how it is suppose to be done".

Also, I see no way Dallas recouping their original second round investment for JJ. For instance, Buffalo trade Willis M because he was in the last year of his contract and wanted the big bucks. No way they trade a second for Jones who is also in his last year of a deal and would be looking for a bigger deal. I would be surprised if you got more than a fourth for Julius.
