I like Broaddus but he has been wrong quite a lot this offseason, so much so that I think Jerry may be using him to provide false information to our rivals. Kind of like the inflatable tanks the alies used before D-Day.

Broaddus like anyone who is asked to provide thoughts or opinions is going to be wrong A LOT. He has some insider access to scouts but those guys have no real data.
When a guy has real data you know his source is Jerry or Steven or BP when he was here.
Garrett is very unlikely to have preferred sources. Just not his style.

Common sense says you don't sign a guy to play him in a few days time but Waters is a Pro Bowl caliber OG on a team with below average players at the position.
At 75% of his peak you play him and get him to 90-95% since he's even with the other guy day 1.

Waters will be in there soon - no question in my mind.

At some point I'd like to hear the real truth behind this story. There has to be a lot more to it than the way things went down.

We know his agent and Dallas were talking for some time. We know he said he'd only leave the couch to play in Texas and yet never had real conversations with the Texans....

He clearly wanted to get paid as the 3m deal shows. --Sure there were things done to lower his initial cap hit based upon incentives.
He also very probably wanted to miss training camp since for a guy his age the extra wear and tear isn't worth the benefit.
He knows how to block people and understands every scheme there is.
Once Brandon Moore backed out he (and more so his agent)had to feel he was as good as signed.
By signing so late he gave Dallas plenty of time to play waiver wire acrobat with that final roster spot.
And he drove the 45 mins to Valley Ranch which he can commute to daily BTW.

Here is my question to those who keep saying Waters will "play some". Why would the Cowboys just swap out RG's in the middle of a game? It's not like WR or RB where a series or two spells the starters. The OL needs to have continuity throughout the game. Unless MB is really really bad and gets benched in favor of Waters I can't see the coaching staff sprinkling Waters in throughout the game. JMO

continuity is not everything. When you got a pro bowler vs a jag you go with the better guy.

I firmly believe Waters will be a good player this season and that he probably could play today but I just don't see them playing him "some". It'll either be starting all game or if MB sucks so bad he gets benched. I just can't fathom them saying on the second drive in the 3rd quarter, "hey lets put Waters in for a series or two to get him some game reps". That would potentially effect Frederick and Free. I just don't think you mess with the OL during the game unless it is absolutely necessary.

You mean like they did at RT last year with great results?

I don't know that they will but I would.
It is much easier to play half an NFL game than it is a full one.
The DL is certainly subbing to keep fresh.
Continuity with Bern is pointless if Waters is the long run starter anyway.
Might as well get as many reps with Waters as possible but also keep Bern in shape as Leary has knee issues and may miss some this season.

Bern becomes the top interior back up and has to be ready to step in at anytime. --doubt Costa makes game day active list unless he does more on special teams than I know of.
I'd take 7 OL generally: starters plus Bern/Parnell.

They rotated Free and Parnell for the final 4 games of last season.

Houston has used a rotation with several of the OLinemen the past few years. Last season they rotated the rookie Ben Jones in at RG. It turned out to be a brilliant move because the veteran starter at RG was injured mid-season and Jones was ready to replace him.

I guess I never thought about the Parnell/free situation and that is a good point. however i feel like that was done more because free was so bad not to get Parnell game reps...though I might be splitting hairs now lol
