One thing that BP tried to do was get guys on the team that could play more then one position. That to me is one of the reasons he hung onto Gurode as long as he did. And now look at what we have:
Gurode- G/C Center starter
Kosier- G/T Guard starter
Davis G/T Guard starter
Adams T tackle starter
Colombo T tackle starter
McQ T backup tackle- potential guard with guard experience in college
Marten T/G played both in college
Free T Tackle in college
Berger G has practiced at center
Proctor G has practiced at center

We have a very versatile line. Good point.

And just as importantly......deep. Especially a year from now.
Yep, very deep. And now, to expand on the point, let's look at our depth at other positions:

QB: we've now got 3 QBs plus an athlete who played QB in college and could do it in a pinch.

WR: we're old but 5 deep.

TE: deep

RB: fairly deep, I think. Certainly the 1-2 combo of JJ and MBIII (or vice versa) has depth.

FB: too deep. someone's gotta go, maybe two people

OL: Yep, deep.

DL: NT isn't deep, DE is.

LB: Very, very deep at OLB and potentially deep at ILB depending on the ability of Carpenter, Burnett, et al to move in side.

S: Very deep (but uncertain at the top at FS): Hamlin and Davis provide great depth at SS; Hamlin, Davis and Watkins provide depth at FS.

CB: Assuming Glen stays healthy, we've got a whole bunch of guys battling to be the depth and some of them have great potential.

Bottom line: We're generally very deep.

I think we are deeper and better all around then we have been since about 96. Now we do not have the top talent at QB and RB we had then, but otherwise we are pretty close.

The OL should be OK. Everytime I get to thinking that way something happens.
