We heard from Stephen recently that they are looking for legitimate competition for the Center position. Clearly Linderbaum would instantly upgrade the position, but there are several others later on that are intriguing:

Parham, Strange, Jurgens (30 Visit), Lindstrom, Fortner, Mays (G/C), West (G/C), Tom, Deaton

Think the majority of these prospects could serve as upgrades to the position and push Biaz to raise his game.

If they are seriously looking to upgrade Center I hope that position flex is NOT a prime consideration. The best CENTER prospect should be the number one concern. Position flex is something this team has gotten obsessed about to the detriment of the O line.

Good for competition but outside of Linderbaum I think it’s a bunch of dudes that are fairly comparable to Tyler as a prospect. Not sure it’s really an upgrade.

Biaz biggest issue is that he struggles against power players. I think we can find a more powerful Center who possesses more of a stronger anchor to better handle these matchups.

I agree. There’s a big gap between Linderbaum and ‘the rest’.

Yep he gets knocked backwards into Dak wayyytoo much not a starter maybe backup but need one with strong anchor

This tells Linderbuam is NOT an option at 24. You don't burn a 1st to give your starter competition. Just me, but honestly think their preference is an interior guy they can kick outside as Tyron's replacement. That is what the Eagles had in mind when they drafted Lane Johnson but they got lucky and found their LT in Mailtata who was a 7th round pick.

Ya Lindenbaum is probably the OC worth a top 120 selection

You guys are sleeping on Cam Jurgens. He’s going to be a starter in the nfl day 1. Top 120 pick no doubt

Maybe, maybe not. I’ve been looking closer into him and there are mixed opinions. Some assessments point out his huge leap in level of play and potential for continued improvement, while others are focused on inherent physical limitations.

Maybe, but Tyler was actually a pretty good prospect. Whoever you take isn’t going to be a better prospect and your just hoping they develop better.

He’s also still improving.

What I am saying is, we can find another Center that takes away Biaz weakness at the position and will allow Dak a better pocket to work with. It's the same issue that Conner Williams had.

I get it…I guess my point is if there was a C with + power and ability to anchor that was a decent enough athlete he’d be a top 50/60 prospect.

Teams find good, late Centers all the time, just look at Jensen who was the top fa this year at the position, was a former 7th rd draft pick. Nasty, powerful Center.

You do realize Jurgens is bigger than Linderbaum right?
Seems like it would be impossible to think that Linderbaum is a 1st round prospect, but Jurgens has “inherent physical limitations”. Those 2 things don’t make sense when Jurgens is the bigger and more athletic prospect.

I’m aware of that, and those same “physical limitations” are mentioned as concerns for Linderbaum as well. Both have them.

Jurgens- 6’3 303 33 3/8” arms

Jason Kelce- 6’2 280 32 1/2” arms
Ryan Kelly- 6’4 311 33 5/8” arms
Corey Linsley- 6’3 296 32” arms
Alex Mack- 6’3 311 33” arms
Rodney Hudson- 6’2 299 32 1/2” arms
Frank Ragnow- 6’5 311 33 1/8” arms
Ben Jones- 6’2 303 32 1/2” arms

Jensen is the outlier at the position at 6’4 320

There are no physical limitations to Jurgens compared to the best centers in the nfl. I think the most likely scenario is you are reading lazy scouting reports evaluating Jurgens from 2+ years ago.

FWIW- 2 rankings that came out today. Gil Brandt has Jurgens as the 56th overall prospect and Dane Brugler has him at 49th.

IMO, Biaz problems were anchoring.
Two questions for the group.
1) Is there a strength and conditioning coach that can get him the anchor strength needed for the position or is this a physical limitation of Biaz ?
2) Does no one think Farinok is competition for him?

I am just curious as to what the board thinks.....

My vote would be for Linderbaum or Fortner, both smart players. Fortner has an advanced engineering degree, can play guard, has the frame to get stronger, and made the line calls.

That was actually the opening topic in the first 15 minutes of this video. Like Eatman says you don't want dumb centers.

I suggest that you take this up with them.
