Said it in another thread. Unless Hanna is done I don't see a high pick at TE this year.

I hope not, although as this is a deep draft for TE's I wouldn't be against a lower round pick as we might get some very good value.

They spent a pick on Gathers last year to see if they could coach him up.

While Witten plays no other TE will get much of a "look in".

If he's up to it, why not put Gathers on the active roster and get him some experience, then if Witten calls it a day after 2017 we might have our replacement.

Deep draft for number two receivers, should have plenty of options for replacing TWill in the later rounds. Ross was great in that forty run, glad I can say I watched both him and Chris Johnson during the combine run their forties. Best running TE class I can remember. Cannot wait to see the CB's and safeties contrast each other. Once that is complete you can make your case for BPA. We lucked out getting Zeke last year, he would clearly still be the top running back IMO.

He measured in at 5-11 202 lbs.

He could no doubt play WR in the league.

It would be an interesting decision if he is very clearly the BPA at 28. I don't think Dallas would do it but if McCaffery agreed to play WR, they could get their replacement for T Williams and a game changing kick/punt returner who can also take snaps at RB if you want.

People seem to be ok with Dallas taking a WR in the first if they are BPA... but everyone would lose their mind if they took McCaffery because he has RB by his name.

I think he'd easily be a better #2 WR than Williams and is a match-up nightmare in many ways. Bubble screens, smoke routes, reverses... he'd be very dangerous. He'd change the field position in a hurry in the kicking game and just as a plain ol' #2 WR he could be very effective.

Having Dez, McCaffery and Beasley in three WR sets... well, there are worse things in this world.

Like I said, I don't think Dallas would do it and I have no idea if McCaffery would balk at playing WR instead of RB... but he is uber talented, competitive, smart, and has better hands than most WR's in the NFL. Catching is effortless for him. He's just so smooth in everything he does.

Simply the kind of guy you want on your team speaking both in terms of character as well as athleticism.

Anyway, just things to consider if he is there at 28 and is head and shoulders the best guy available.

Trade down then

Christian McCaffrey was the best route runner at the entire combine. This includes the receivers and the tight ends. If McCaffrey is on the board at 28, the Cowboys might take him. He can not be covered out of the backfield. He would be a nightmare for defenses.

The receivers and tight ends are very impressive. The Cowboys will draft a receiver. Ross should be off the board at 28. The Cowboys could grab one in the 2nd or 3rd round in a very deep group. Among the tight ends, Howard will be off the board at pick 28. Evan Ingram was outstanding today. Ingram will be in the mix at pick 28.
Not happening.

Because there's no way he's that far ahead of the guys who will be there. This draft is one of the deepest in years. he may be the BPA, but it won't be by a wide margin by any means.........in my opinion

You need to go watch film on this guy. He is anot utter nightmare for defenses.

There is a lot of talent in this draft, very good talent deep into the third.

I hate it that we have only seven picks. What a draft to have multiple seconds and thirds in.

It would be cool if they could deal Romo to Denver and flip to pick 20 in the first and flip with them in the 2nd round as well.

Deep draft for wr. They could get a good one in the 2nd or 3rd that would be an upgrade over what they are losing.
Or sign Cooks and use the draft pick to upgrade the weakest area of the team - defense.

cooks, as in from NO? they want to get a #1 for him...so, we would lose our draft pick to upgrade the defense if they went that route

Also, I just watched a few minutes of the combine coverage and J. Peppers may be amongst my favorite players...he was out there today with the LB group and is going back out tomorrow with the dBacks...has anyone ever done that?

Love this kid's energy...pair him with Jones as the safeties and let him blitz once in a while....yummy

I don't want Dallas to draft players that take special coaching strategies to maximize their potential.

That is not our coaching staff. They are horrible at that.

We need standard/Traditional players and leave the gadget guys to coaches who will actually use them.

I love McCaffrey also. He could be a third down change of pace back, play some WR and return kicks and punts. He would play alot of snaps for us. You are correct, the guy is smooth at everything. Catchng, running, change of direction, burst is effortless. Not sure I trust our staff to use him the right way though, and is probably not a need for us but a nice to have.
