This is a work in progress and if its successful im sure youll start to see some mid range free agent guys start to participate to help their signing prospects. Though im sure aging veterans will stay away.... It would be very interesting if they got someone like t.o. participate. I would get my popcorn ready for sure!

Very few players I have seen as bad at returning punts/kicks as Akwasi.

Mikel LeShoure doesn't intrigue anyone?

He can't stay healthy though, right? Colts tried him out in December and he still couldn't crack the squad. Still only 24 in fairness, why not kick those tires.

I'm more interested in comparing their rookie combine measurables with their new ones.

You know, that's not a bad idea for a team to do: put the whole team through the combine workouts at the end of each season and compare the data over the years as players slow down (or speed up).

Why does it have to be "big name stars past their prime"? That's really not the only thing this is about. It's about a lot of smaller known players getting a second chance as well.

This is actually fantastic, and if you think scouts aren't paying attention to this; you're nuts. I would not be surprised if at least one player comes out of this each year with a resurrected career or something that at least jumpstarts it.

If a player was on the bubble about being kept this be be a good thing, but if he's under contract and you know he's coming back this is the type of thing that could seriously dent his confidence.

Seems like many of these guys are likely to be those on the verge of being afterthoughts, if not already there. Nevertheless, I'll probably tune in out of sheer curiosity, if nothing else. Who knows, maybe some of them will show they've still got something left in the tank after all. At any rate, it's a good way to make their claim to relevance. It just might be the best thing that could happen to those who do well enough to impress.
