Veteran Corners Turned Safety

There are several veteran pro-bowl caliber corners hitting the market for this off-season. With Dallas in need, who do you think has the best chance at success in moving position? Or why are you against it to begin with? Discuss.

Patrick Peterson would be my choice. Good size and although he's lost speed, he has plenty for safety. He's also stayed relatively healthy. His days as a top corner appear to be done, but he might have a few years as a top safety.

Now, I'd rather us just go get a proven top safety, but the price point for one of the top young safeties should be much higher than what it would take for Peterson, who still might be out of the Joneses' price range.

So to your point there have been several who "were not as successful". Do we really want to gamble with a high-priced FA and unproven or rather draft one and/or pick up a 'safety' in FA? I think it becomes a numbers game eventually and you know pretty much where our front office stands on FAgents. Personally I am all for drafting one at #10 that is if one is worthy...

I've stated no case in how I feel about it. Simply opening the line for discussion. If the price is right, it would not surprise me if Dallas did something like this given their bargain hunting nature when it comes to FA. I think we should definitely address the position in the draft regardless of who is signed.

I'd prefer proven talent in the position, as well as drafting. It is Dallas though.

I don't really remember Williams as a safety, but the Woodson's were also HoF talents at corner to begin with. I don't think Sherman is in their class, but Peterson is at least close.

I wouldn't trust Sherman there either. He relies a lot on his length, size, and jamming to put himself in good position to beat WR'S. Better at Man, than Zone. Peterson however can do both well. Great IQ for the game.

I’m pretty sure he played all over the field. They used him in the slot, over top etc. He wasn’t just a pure FS

He's still predominantly a slot CB. He plays more reps there than anywhere else (or at least it was true in 2019, I haven't seen the 2020 numbers).
