Has us taking McKelvin at 22 and F. Jones at 28.

I don't like the Jones pick - I want Ray Rice. Maybe go something else at 28 since it seems the consensus is we can get Rice with our 2nd round pick?

I wouldn't be upset at all though with taking him at 28.

Give me McKelvin and Reggie Smith at 22 and 28. Find a way to get into the early second and nab Chris Johnson if he isn't already gone in the first round.

Hell, if I get McKelvin with the 22nd, I might take Johnson at 28.

I can think of RBs I'd rather have at this point but I honestly wouldn't balk at those picks.

I wouldn't be surprised if we took McKelvin, or someone comparable at #22, but I have a feeling Jones will try to find a trading partner who will want our #28, and Jones will do his best to trade down into the 2nd round instead of us actually making 2 1st round picks.

I could definitely see Jerry trying to trade down from #28 into the second round. In fact, I hope he does. I think there's some good value in that round.

I would especially prefer that to taking Felix Jones at #28. I don't feel Jones is worth taking that high and I don't feel he could handle the load if Barber were to get hurt or (unfortunately) move on in 2009.

Why does every Mock draft have us taking felix Jones, and why does everyone have us taking Felix Jones because he is an Arkansas guy and so is Jerry Jones. For all we know, Jerry Jones could hate Felix Jones.

CBs are typically harder to find and that's now a need for us with reeves gone (he was so much better than henry, i hear!) and henry getting a tad older. we needed a cb before but i suppose VR already knew reeves would be gone, so i'm sure it will be addressed.

my flip question is this - every year we hear "bpa period" from people. however this time the bulk of the talk of positions of need.

i'm in the middle of that one and say you ID your needs by position and don't really weigh one more heavily than the other and you BPA based on *need* not pure BPA.

maybe because he's a good player and worthy of consideration at that slot and lo and behold, we need an RB and he happens to be one.

Pretty much you're spot on.

I think if Jerry is sold on Barber, which they seem to be, then he doesn't even bother taking a RB in the first round.

Barber is going to be looking for a 5 year deal probably, worth a chunk of change and to bring in another 1st round RB getting paid starter money would be a little silly.

I wouldn't put it past Jerry, but I think we've made it clear Barber is our guy at this point.

No I like the CB pick. I just mean there are backs Id rather have over Jones at that point. :)

While this is true, and I'm not usually one to begrudge a player for a poor showing at the combine, his was particularly poor. Given that he's widely considered an outside speed back, and he (apparently) isn't terribly fast, I'm not a fan of taking him in the first round....marginally a fan of taking him in the second.

At this point, the only Arkansas guy I wouldn't mind seeing us go after is Hillis.

I'm hoping we take go CB/WR or CB/CB in the first...and try and go after Rice in the second...even if it means we have to move up (for Rice).

Nothing to do with Arkansas, hell Jerry in his 18 or so years owning the tweam has NEVER picked a guy from Arkansas higher than round 5, so get that out of your mind, people have us taking him because he's a perfect compliement to Barber, he's a homrun threat everytime he has the ball, he averaged 3 yards per carry MORE then McFadden running behind the same line and had longer runs per game in less carries then McFadden too, he is a homerun threat, plus you get the added bonus of hm being a returner as well..
If we pick Jones at #28, expect him to get more TOUCHES per game then Owens and Witten COMBINED!
So when you look at how many TOUCHES per game he's gonna get, you can understand why we'd be looknig at him at pick #28.
For those who say eh can't handle the load of being a full time R.B., he's 5'-10 207 McFadden is 6'-1 211, McFadden is 3 inches taller and only 4 pounds heavier, meaning Jones is actually more compact and carries more weight per inch, and not to mention how big was Tony Dorsett?
Jones also has better open field moves than McFadden so he won't get hit directly on most of his runs.
Bottom line I'd love Jones at #28, I think he COULD BE HAD around pick 10 in round 2 which means if I wanted him I'd might wanna trade down some spots!

They guy who looks the most like TD on tape--with the fluid running style, nice stride, cutback skills and abity to squirt through holes and run like the wind--is Chris Johnson. Not at all saying they equate...nobody can say that. But CJ could be had in mid to late Rd2.

I just hope we get secondary help early. DRC would be sweet!
