Eagles QB Michael Vick has been given assurances by Philadelphia head coach Andy Reid that he will be traded before the NFL Draft. That according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Vick confirmed he has discussed his future with his agent and what the Eagles might do when he appeared on the Dan Patrick radio show Monday.

“Me and my agent spoke briefly about 2 days ago,” Vick said on Dan Patrick’s radio show. “He’s just trying to get an understanding on what we thought was the best-case scenario and how we should approach the situation in regards to being respectful. We thought that was important. We didn’t put a timetable on it but it should happen pretty soon. So, we’ll see.”

Now it’s unlikely that the Eagles would pick up the $5M option on Vick’s contract. Instead Philadelphia would probably perform a sign and trade deal with whatever team offers the most in a trade.

The Philadelphia Daily News suspects Vick could fetch a fourth-round pick. I would anticipate a team trading for Vick to offer a conditional draft pick, similar to what the Jets did with Brett Favre.

Hard to say they could get a fourth, knowing Vick wants to be moved. I think it’s more likely to be a conditional fifth-round pick with the chance to as high as a 2nd or 3rd at best based on playing time and team success in all likelihood.

I think it's amazing that some team thinks that he could be a useful NFL starter. Was it his dominant performance this year in Philly that had people drooling? I guess you could say that he's better than Jamarcus Russell, but you could also say that about Charlie Frye. Are teams lining up to trade picks for Frye?

I'll be laughing at whatever team parts with a draft pick for Vick. And I'll be crying on the inside knowing that the Eagles benefitted.

I think if you are a desperate team in need of a QB Vick can be had for a low price and little risk. Which is why I would not be surprised to see a team like Oakland who has allot of money invested at QB but are not satisfied with what they are seeing

How this twit has ANY leverage at all is beyond me. He should just be thankful he got back in the league even as a back up.

If I were the Rams, I would roll the dice on him. Draft Suh and grab McCoy in the 3rd to develop. Draft a WR in the 2nd and then game plan to run the ball with Jackson and Vick.

If the Eagles don't trade him I think they end up cutting him. That is if McNabb comes back. You would have McNabb as the clear #1 and Kolb as the clear #2. Why would they need to keep Vick? Why would he want to stick around as a #3 guy? He wouldn't. I bet the Eagles hope they can get something for him via trade, but they know he probably won't be around once the season starts.

Just sounds like the eagles do not want to pay his bonus and figure they could get a pick by trading him. Does not sound like he or his agent are being jerks about it. Seems like the best for both parties.

True.

Many thought this was what the Eagles were going to do in the first place.

Bring him in cheap, showcase his abilities every now and then and try to get a good pick after the Season.
