Dez Bryant with Brad and Mickey

Just barely caught the end of this interview of Dez Bryant with Brad and Mickey...

Also heard Jerry say today that maybe it's a wise thing to be very cautious with Dez, read here.
Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones has tempered his optimism about first-round pick Dez Bryant playing in the preseason, saying the team needs to weigh the risks before putting the receiver on the field for a game that doesn't count in the standings.

Bryant, who suffered a right high ankle sprain July 30 that was expected to sideline him from four to six weeks, wants to return for the Aug. 28 game against the Houston Texans. That would allow him to play in the final two preseason games.

"I just think it'd be best for me to go out there to get some work in," said Bryant, who hasn't played a game since September after being suspended by the NCAA for most of his final season at Oklahoma State. "I just feel like I need the feel of the game. I need to get a hit or something."
I think it's safe to say we are all just very excited to see Dez on the field, but maybe we should all just shut up and not even think about him playing until the opening game vs the Skins.

Even though it may seem that the season flies by quickly, it is very long and truly difficult grind. Hopefully everyone involved, including Bryant himself, will demonstrate the patience needed for him to properly recover from this injury.

"Yes sir. Thanks for having me."

I'm so glad that the rest of the league decided to mail it in when it came time to research Dez's character. I haven't heard one interview at all where he sounds disrespectful, even when he was being asked about the Ireland interview.

Glad I got him on my dynasty team, along with Felix. :D

Didn't he just say he has trouble cutting on that leg? I for one would prefer to get him fully healthy before he returns. Will he actually be anywhere close to 100% when he returns?

That's the question right there. He'll probably have to be brought along slowly, but he can contribute something from start.

One of the best in college in returns and likes doing it.

These guys are football players and its why they make absurd amounts of money. If he is good at it (which he is), he needs to be back there. The risk of injury is not that much greater, if at all, than catching a pass over the middle and getting knocked out by a MLB. If anything it is less because you can see the whole field in front of you.

How often do the RETURNERS get hurt on returns? I can't even really think of one. This keep him out of this and that stuff is bologna.

I don't know how certain you can ever be in returning from this type injury. Common sense would lead you to believe the longer he waits to stress the ankle via aggressive rehap, full practice or actually playing in a game, the less likely it is he reinjures it.

As much as I want to see him play, I'd rather we error on the side of caution and bring him along painfully slow.

I don't care when he sees game action. Last preseason game, first regular season game or even a few weeks after.

Here's what I would like to see. Dez get two weeks of practice in before he plays in any game and have absoluelty no reservations about the ankle. I want that ankle to be the last thing on his mind.
