I'm all for trading our 1st (#27) and our first round pick next year to get Earl Thomas. There won't be a safety like Thomas in 2011. And what if there's a lockout next year? Let's make a run this year!

I wonder if JJ will go lower than 18-20 range, though. Maybe more like our 27, a player (Spears?), plus our 2nd next year.

I don't have anything to back up my opinion but there is just far too much smoke out there..something is going to go down, I can just feel it..For who and for what I have no clue..but something is going to happen and it will be exciting

I agree.

I really think guys like Spears will be traded for picks (and not because I want Spears gone am I typing this). Simply put, I just can't see JJ extending all 3 of our 34 DEs next year (Hatcher, Spears, and Bowen). I think he'll try to get something for Spears this season, rather losing him next season and gaining maybe only a comp pick. Plus, I think the coaches are happy with Bowen and Hatcher. And maybe they see something in M Dixon?

Spears, Carp, 27 and a 6th to the Dolphins for 12

IDK, shut up.....

I gotta say, I think one reason the Dolphins may want to trade down is due to the money aspect. They spent a boatload in cash and contracts for their two big FA acquistions this year. Really massive contracts.

They may also value Spears,Crayton and Barber more than certain draft picks.

Maybe they think Spears+Barber>Eagles 2nd rounder.

They 100% want to trade down.

I just didnt give them a 2nd rounder which is what they want. Scratch my deal.

Something like 27 and 59 for 12

Spears and Carp in a separate deal that helps us find a way to Alualu, McCluster, or Nate Allen

I think Jerry is going to at least make a run at Earl Thomas, but I don't know what he's going to offer.

Short answer is yes.

Hey Hos. I see you've changed your stance on whether there's a chance we'll trade up. I remember a couple of months back you said to me "Not gonna happen" or something to that effect. Have you heard something? None of us know what's gonna happen tomorrow, but what do you think is the most likely scenario for Dallas?

I could see one of the guys we like slipping a little down to 20ish and we make a move. I don't know if Dallas is willing to make a crazy move up to the top 1/2 of the draft and give up the few early round picks we have, but anything's possible.

BTW, Thomas looks like he's gonna be awesome. Give me him, Pouncey or Iupati in round 1 and I'll be happy as hell.

In all honesty, Spears is solid. He's not special though. But he's solid. There's just no way JJ will dish out the money for all 3 DEs next season.

For Miami, with the 27th, plus Spears, plus another player, and maybe a 2nd or 3rd from next year, isn't bad. And a 2nd or 3rd from next year would help negate the 2nd they gave up for Marshall in 2011.

Wait? I thought the idea of trading Spears had you cracking up last week?

I still don't think we will trade up, but it is not impossible given our team needs.

I still believe Iupati or Pouncey are the top 2 guys on our board expected to be there at 27.

Maybe Pitt has opened up some needs for themselves.

And Kareem Jackson seemingly has pushed himself into R1 so that helps

But Cambpell and Mays may be out of R1 so that hurts

Maybe theres a run on these QB's and that drops Pouncey but it sounds like hes very firmly a mid 1st

Mosley just said he called his sources at Valley Ranch about this rumor of us trading with San Fran for Earl, and they said no way. Said they were actually amused at the idea.

Yeah, I don't buy that one either. No way we give up our 2nd and 3rd to move that high.

I do think we will ask about veterans in a package deal, but I don't think it has happened yet.

And for what it's worth, Mosley and Galloway both hear that there is no way on Taylor Mays. They were saying how wrong Peter King is.

And he now says Odrick is the man *if* he's there.

Thank you. I'll sleep better tonight.

No one actually believed that rumor. It was way too much and if anything, the Niners would swoop Earl themselves.

If we dont trade for him at 12, he's a goner by pick 15
